I have two solid "maybes" already, so I think I am going to fling open the doors of Casa Toscano at 6 p.m. Friday night for gaming until we get tired or the Lovely Mrs. Toscano boots us out.

We're gonna start with Settlers (both of the maybes say they will bring it, and I think I know where I can borrow one).

I will also have the Risk Lord of the Rings Trilogy edition available in another room.

The rest is up to you.

RSVP to billtoscano@comcast.net for directions, phone, etc.

We are on the beautiful North Shore, in Peabody, literally seconds off Route 128.

And I can blame Maureen Dowd

From her column:

(You have to be registered)

The Republicans cast Mr. Kerry as dour and angry, but he likes comedies like "The Blues Brothers" and "Animal House" and old-fashioned romantic epics, like "Scaramouche," "Ivanhoe" and "Indiana Jones."

How can I not vote for a man who lists the greatest movie ever made among his favorites?

My dear, sweet [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola made some interesting observations about what she can tell about a person based on what name they call her by.

That got me thinking (and she may have started a meme).

If you call me Liam, as most people here do, you either know me through the SCA, met me through a Scadian or are a member of www.beeradvocate.com. Those are the only times I use that name. Other than LJ, of course. If you pronounce it LIE-um, then you are from Calontir.

If you call me Bill, then you are in that great mass of people who have met me through school or in some other education-related way or know me from my newpsaper days or in some other mundane fashion.

If you call me Mr. Toscano, you are either one of my students or one of my teaching colleagues, and you feel you don't know me very well. (Or you are trying to sell me something Go away!)

If you call me Mr. T., you are either one of my students or one of my teaching colleagues.

If you call me T, you are either one of my students or one of my teaching colleagues and feel you know me really well.

If you call me Billy, then you know me from way back or worked in the Sports Department at The Day of New London or the Norwich Bulletin. (Or you are my sister or my mother).

If you call me, William DONOVAN Toscano, you are my mother or -- rarely -- my wife and you are PISSED.

If you call me Tusky or Sleepy, then you know me from back in the day, and you were either a student or a teacher at Westerly High School in the mid-70s.

If you call me Lou Grant or Lou, then you were a brother of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, Rho Iota Chapter, at the University of Rhode Island in the late 1970s.

That's about all I can think of right now.
