I am going to have to ask SCA friends to pardon me for this post.

You all remember what it was like when you went to your first Pennsic and you were overwhelmed and overstimulated and just blown away, right? You were breathless and wanted to tell everyone what a great thing you had just experienced.

That's how I felt when I got back from WorldCon yesterday.

I had never been to a Con before, and since the World convention was 30 minutes from my house, so I figured I had better go.

I went on a $75 one-day ticket, stayed from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and felt it was well-worth it. (Now, I could have spent three times that amount in the dealer room, but I was a good boy).

Went to a fascinating panel theorizing on what would have happened if JFK survived Dallas. A lot of what-ifs and some real insights. I learned a lot.

Saw many others, including Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Geek that I am, I was fascinated when I walked by Harry Turtledove and S.M. Stirling in the dealers' room while they were discuss some alternative-history question. Good boy that I am, I kept walking.

Met a lot of friends, old and new. I figured I talked to close to 50 SCA members, including people running three different dealers' booths. Yes, folks, Poison Pen Press was there, so was Auntie Arwen. There were at least a dozen or more folks I knew from LJ, as well.

I want to thank everyone who helped me ground myself and figure out where I was going.

It was just amazing.
