I had a great time at East Kingdom 12th Night and did a lot of catching up with a lot of people.

The big news, of course, was that the East Kingdom made its first female knight, and I was proud that it was someone I consider a friend.

(The rest is my post to EK List)

OK, what I want to know is, if you were at 12th Night, did you cry, and when?

These, of course, were tears of joy as Thorson and Svava, made Sir Ankara the first female knight in the history of the East Kingdom.

I lost it when she was about to swear fealty and said, "I, Sir Ankara. . . "

I think have known Nikki her entire SCA life. She's a premier equestrian, and she and her husband, Sir Angus, teach historical fighting. They are
Carolingians and some of the finest folks you'll ever meet.

My observation: Interesting buffet (no, not dinner): Thorson swung while he was still speaking, so she wouldn't have the chance to stiffen up. Sir
Ankara staggered to the right, then smiled and hugged him.

The place erupted. The whole thing had a very SCA History-oriented feel. Master El, treasure that he is, spoke, as did Duke Gavin. Duchess Jana
brought the whole place down when she described meeting Ankara for the first time and remembering her thought upon finding Ankara fought was, "Oooooooooh. She's *soo* cute."

Oskgar, one of Balfar's squires (and a good friend) was knighted, My friend and sometimes-mentor Kieran Bren of Bannockburn (always involved in running
archery at Pennsic) received his Pelican, as did Muirne, who has, for years, made the Barony Beyond the Mountain, a great place to play.

Misress Dresden (of Concordia or Glen Linn), received a Laurel to go with her Pelican.

Kudos to Baron Adhemar and his folks for a great site and event and kudos to Jaji and the O'Chaoda kitchen staff.
