Rant Night (con't) 3. Patriots' fans and store clerks

The first and most important thing to know is that it is 14 days, 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 4 seconds until the Red Sox pitchers and catchers report.

I am so fed up with the Patriots and their fans!

Now I am a big-time sports guy, and Dad had season tickets back when they played in Schaefer Stadium.

But after the glory that was October, I know that nothing can ever top that.

I hate the two weeks between the title games and the Super Bowl because the papers feel obligated to fill the sports front with stories about a game that's a week or more away. I am tired of reading Super Bowl party stories and interviews with fans who are going to the game.

I should know better than to listen to sports radio this week. They are either taling about the inanities of the game or they are apologizing for briefly talking about other sports.

I will watch the game, yes, then I will move on to more important things, like counting down the days to Spring Training.

Also, things you don't want to hear after you have called to check if your prescription is ready, was told it was, and have gone out into the cold, black night.

"Maria, if someone calls and asks if a prescription is ready, and it's not, don't tell them that it is."

Arrrrgh.
