The Northeast Belly Dance Association (Boston Chapter) is pleased to announce a benefit hafli (Arabic for party) to raise funds for the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. Over 20 of the Boston area's finest dancers will perform in a showcase of the variety of styles of modern belly dance. Prizes will be auctioned and in between sets the dance floor will be open for all to participate, with DJ Garabed spinning. The hafli will be held on Sunday, September 25 from 3:30pm to 7pm at the Dilboy VFW Post, 371 Summer Street, Somerville (Davis Square). Suggested minimum donation is $15.

There will be a show to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina on Thursday, October 6th, Downstairs at the Middle East nightclub, Central Square in Cambridge.

Right now, the following bands have confirmed:

The Hook-Ups
The Line
Alchemilla
Plumerai

More bands are to be added, and we are also looking into other entertainers as well.

First band will be on at 8pm. The show will be 18+. We are still determining the cover charge. Also, we will be accepting cash donations for the relief effort (we haven't yet decided upon which charities) and are looking into the possibility of getting a Red Cross vehicle there to accept material donations.
