I will be holed up on my room, finishing school stuff and various press releases, while "watching" the Red Sox on Internet and constantly checking the Chicago-Cleveland score. (Patriots? No, not so much).

Need to do some working packing stuff in the garage, too, and hoping to get to an acapella show and/or somewhere else later this afternoon.

Odd . . . Listing to the Chateau Teafort Teafort Trio's "Whipporwill," then going to the Red Sox site, having the highlight reel start, and hearing a Manny Ramirez home run call over the top of the music.

Yes, I do want to go see "Serenity" again.

Volunteered to babysit last night. It was interesting, though I am glad [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola and [livejournal.com profile] theresat managed to get older so quickly. Yes, I even changed a diaper. It was kinda cool. The kids listened to me, which [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola and [livejournal.com profile] theresat only do when they want to.

GRIN!

And, no, not interesting in the "Oh, God, oh, God, we're all gonna die." sense of the word.

I love the juxtapositions in my life. I was wearing two "Press Guy" hats at the same time this afternoon. I was writing press releases both for my school and for a burlesque troupe. Think anyone else, anywhere, was doing that. It was cool, like being the Gay Straight Alliance and National Honor Society advisor at the same time, was cool.

Anyway, one of the releases has to do with the fact that seven of my students and I are going to be involved in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier on the day before Veterans Day. (I just realized that [livejournal.com profile] artisticphoenix's birthday. Cool.). Anyway, we were going to be there anyway, and the national director chose us to do it, partly because he knows me, knows we're an active chapter and because we're Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. Heh.

OK, so I know that after last year's World Series I said I could die a happy man. But now, I know I can really die happy if we play the Astros in the World Series and Roger Clemens pitches again in Fenway Park and we beat him. Yeah, yeah. Curt Schilling over Roger in the final game (whichever game that might be).

I am no longer a White Sox fan, but I do appreciate what they did for us today. I am now cheering for the Angels and the Astros. (And the Sox, of course).

I got a ton accomplished this afternoon, but still have lots more to do. Tomorrow afternoon will be garage-cleaning time.

For the first time in years, I woke up this morning and chose to go to church.

I thought about the nearby Catholic church, then I checked the local Unitarian Church..

I decided to go there instead. It turned out to be pretty interesting and a very positive experience, but I do need to read up on the Unitarian-Universalist faith.

I don't talk much about my faith, but I am a lapsed (or is that recovering?) Catholic, in that I have not attended church regularly since the early 1990s when I was teaching Catholic school and sorta had to. I pray every night do talk to God daily, but I know I am not really Catholic any more.

So of course the first thing I go to do upon entering is to cross myself with holy water. Nope, not there. I was going to genuflect going into the pew, but realized I didn't need to, then I came to the realization there were no little benches to kneel on.

The service was neat and well-organized, and the people were friendly. I especially liked the part where they said the coffee hour after church was a vital part of the experience. Hehehehe. I can deal with that.

I also liked the part where one of the people said that some parts of the Unitarian-Universalist religion feel that God is too compassionate to forsake anyone, so we are all going to Heaven. Cheery thought.

I am likely to go back there.
