It;s a good thing alethea_eastrid has "breakdown fu."
After we left the event last night (great event, more later), the car's electrical system started acting screwy, and we wound up going black and motionless on the side of Route 26 about three or four miles north of Gray, Maine.
(I was thinking cannibals, but Alethea said that would only happen in Aroostook County, up north).
Well, we get a break. We were stopped right in front of a repair shop/used auto dealer (now, it's well after 11 p.m.).
Well, doesn't the mechanic for the place pull in (avtually had to go around us to get into the driveway) with his stock car from a night at Beech Ridhe Motor Speedway?
The call to AAA is not going all that well. The guy puffs on his small cigar, opens the hood and pronounces that it's the alternator. If we would like, we could leave it there, and he would try to deal with it Sunday. So Alethea's folks came to get us and we finally got into bed about 1 a.m.
Alethea was bemused that I could talk racing with the guy. "So you gotta run a stock flywheel or what?" I rarely understand the answer, but that's OK.
Dave, the car guy, called a little while ago, and he's gonna go check things out in an hour. I'll keep you posted, for those who want to be posted. And even for those who don't.
Hot at the event, but a ton of stuff going on. Baron Conrad of L'Isle du Dragon Dormant, was made a Pelican. It was cool. The fencing and non-belted champions were announced. I will try to track them down.
There was a big party in Shark. (Who would have thunk it?)
Theresat came and there was much rejoicing. I got to meet a nice friend of Evilnicola's and got to tease Hfcougar, who sometimes just doesn't know what to make of me.
Oh, yes, and Her Excellency Baroness Aurelia Rufinia was there and mneeded *my* experetise to help with an A&S project. I am on my way to a Maunche. I can just tell.
