(Sorry, it kept getting pushed down the to-do list)

OK, I still have to go back and finish the Pennsic schedule, but here's what the Fall looks like:

Beyond here are details . . .  )

We are on record pace, baby.

Barely an hour into the day and four posts aleady. Read 'em and weep!

Almost halfway to "a new league record."

(Points if you can identify the movie that quote goes with).

Hint under here )

Me? Cranky?

1. OK, then. Someone clearly snuck some special mushrooms into M. Night Shamaylian's omelette.

Apparently in "Lake in the Water" (did someone say moistened bint?), the title character is a "narf." Yes, a "narf." A magical sea creature beuing hunted by, of all things, a "scrunt." (Think nasty canine critter). Here's what the Boston Herald has to say.

2. On a related note, also disappointing, it looks as though the Commonwealth Shakespeare's free "Taming of the Shrew" is done in contemporary setting. Call me an old fart ("Liam, you are an old fart.), but set Shakespeare in period. Women are fine, but period. Period. (Unless it's "10 Things I Hate About You," which does not claim to be Shrew). *Sighs* I will try to give it a fair chance.

3. This one is for [livejournal.com profile] ladytat.

The Brain: “Pinky, there are times when I feel I’m bearing my soul to a tube of caulk.”
Pinky: “Yum! Caulk!”

Another useful Brain quote: “The entire world will beg to bow before me, their charismatic despot.”

4. I cannot believe I watched the “Snakes On A Plane” trailer before 7 a.m.

5. From the Pennsic War web site, specifically from the head water bearer:: "Speaking of water … we will only be providing bottles of water in the battles this year. There will be Gatorade at the Water Point, but you must bring your own bottle to fill. It is yours for the taking, but do remember that it is for everyone, so no five gallon fill ups!! You are encouraged to bring your own sports drinks as well … it will be a flavor you like!"

I used to read Romanesko's Obscure Store & Reading Room a lot more than I do now.

I think it's better for my blood pressure to not read it.

MINNEAPOLIS - A young mother was killed when hit by an S-U-V that was leaving the south Minneapolis restaurant's drive-thru lane while walking with her husband and their two sons.

The victim's husband, Mario Maya, said the family had walked to the restaurant from their Minneapolis apartment and were just walking up to the restaurant when 23-year-old Isabel Chavez was hit and pinned against a raised piece of landscaping.

Chavez was dead by the time police arrived.

Police said it appeared that the driver of the Lincoln Navigator was on his cell phone and may have accelerated too quickly as he drove out. He was not arrested. Police are reviewing the case to see if charges should be filed.

They didn’t arrest him!!

He is still driving!!!

What the hell???

I think I better go take a nap.

And this one, well . . . Sandra L. Piovesan once told a neighbor that the pack of nine wolf dogs that she had raised as pets "give me unqualified love." A few days ago, she was fatally mauled by the dogs.

Some of you already know this, and for those who didn't, please help me welcome my new roommate, Julian, born at Oh-God-Early-O'Clock this morning. Julian and his mom, [livejournal.com profile] hawkegirl, are resting comfortably.

July 21 is a big day here, as Julian and his brother Gregorian, share a birthday. Gregorian is 10 today. Nice closure of a loop with three sisters in between.

I am apparently very, very difficult to wake up. Those times include 4:45 a.m., when I have not gotten to sleep until after 1:45 a.m. (I just couldn’t settle down), and when I have my CPAP machine and my fan going full blast. After calling my name five or six times, the person trying to wake me finally pulled on my foot, eliciting a loud response, much heart-thumping and – after about 30 seconds – something resembling wakefulness.

Perhaps she should have used an Illudium Q36 Space Modulator. That would have produced an Earth-shattering kaboom.

I functioned for a while, did my best to help, then slept in the early afternoon. I was really feeling out of it yesterday for various reasons, so I am still only vaguely humanoid-like. I also have not showered, and I walked from and to the auto repair shop this morning, so I also smell rather goat-like. Shower soon.

Rugged thuderstorms moving through. Almost kept me from going down to get the truck. Now they are back, but not as intense, and it might be cooling off.

Truck did come in at just under $700, and the nice man there was good enough to wait for me to wait out the rain to walk down.

Oh, there are Carolingian fighting practice pictures up Here!

Heya!

Who wants to get together at Pennsic?

When are you getting there?

Where are you staying?

[livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid and I expect to arrive on the Sunday of Land Grab weekend. We will be camping in Maguire's Marauders on the Serengeti. More details to come.

On a related topic, I will be working for the Pennsic Independent again this year. There is subscription and advertising information at that link.

You can subscribe on the web if you cannot get to Pennsic.

But my question for you is: What kinds of stories would you like to see?

Now is your chance.
