1. I have said it before, and I will say it again, treat yourself and go eat at The Publick House, 1648 Beacon St., Brookline. It get crowded quickly on Fridays and Saturdays, so go early. They will be expanding next month.
taureanbabe and I went last night, and Jimmy The Chef blew me away with a pumpkin ravioli special that was one of the best things I have had at a restaurant in a long, long time.
taureanbabe had the waterzooi, which rocked. She also had the bright idea that we would order the Chimay cheese plate *and* she'd get a Chimay Tripel. She is a very smart woman. ;)
2. You need to read World War Z. It is the best future history I have ever read, and it's clearly in the top three all-time science fiction books for me. The author of "The Zombie Survival Guide" uses an unusual oral-history technique to tell the story of the Zombie Wars. It's also a scathing commentary on how governments might well react to a pandemic. Great Christmas gift for your weird friends
3. If you haven't had a chance to walk through the Boston Common at night this holiday season, do it tonight if you can. Very, very cool.
4. Even if you have not ever listened to Canadian East Coast Maritime music, I can pretty much guarantee you're gonna listen to Great Big Sea's Courage and Patience and Grit. Just trust me on this one.
5. If you dig winter hikes, head up to The Fells, directly off I-93 North, just north of Boston. Absolutely gorgeous.

1. I gave up on Red Sox tickets after three hours in a couple of "vrtual waiting rooms."
2. Allan Iverson is just a bad idea.
3. J.D. Drew is saying all the right things.
4. I would rather have Roger Clemens than Dice-K.
5. Go Minutemen! UMass will play for the Division IAA national football title.
6. I am all about Doug Flutie as the next BC football coach (and screw Tom O'Brien). Oh, I would take Tom Coughlin, too.
7. No one has a right to bitch about what O'Brien did in his time at BC.
8. Is it a karma thing? If the Bruins are winning, the Celtics have to be losing?
9. Sorry. Not excited about the Patriots.
10. Pitchers and catchers report in 73 days!
11. Oh, yeah, and I am all about keeping Manny.

This doesn't happen very often . . .
Dec. 9th, 2006 01:47 pm1. Not only have I actually corssed "Clean My Room" off the to-do list for the first time since, well . . . a long time, the truck is actually acceptably clean.
2. It can be 50 degrees again, and time soon.
3. If it's gonna snow, it needs to fricking *SNOW*
4. People have asked for a link to my Amazon Wish List. Really. They have.
