Thought while I should be working . . .
May. 6th, 2007 03:34 pmToday was a trade-off. I spent yesterday wandering Boston, going to bookstores, used CD stores and generally walking and enjoying the day.
That meant today was going tobe spent in my lonely writer's garrett working on a variety of projects.
Oh, and playing online occasionally. ;)
A few thoughts:
1. My late, sainted Protuguese grandmother would have fully understand my comfort meal of orzo with butter and a little milk, but the samosas on the side probably would have thrown her a little.
2. No high school student should ever be allowed to use the phrase: "Back in the day." You're in "the day," bub. Kindergarten in 1996 is not "back in the day." The 70s, now the 70s are back in the day.
3. This one is hypothetical. If you are looking at something in a sex-toy shop, the young lady behind the counter should not use the word, "penis." It just seems kinda clinical.
4. Anyone with any interest in gay issues should read (or re-read) "The Front Runner" by Patricia Nell Warren. I read it as a kid and was fascinated by it. It's still a great story, but since it was written 33 years ago, it's also a good primary-source historical piece. I have a loaner copy.
Music: "Bastards on Parade," Dropkick Murphys
