Is anyone else having trouble getting posts up?

I have not tried a lot, but I couldn’t get one to post Thursday (and I lost it), and my most recent would not go up, either.

I assume it has something to do with the denial of service attack.

It must be SixApart’s fault. ;)

A friend, who is also a teacher, is trying to get postcards from all 50 states.

Right now, all she needs are:

Arkansas
Georgia
S. Carolina
Vermont

I know there are people from all of those states on my LY.

Contact me at bill@goonbox.com

Thanks,

Liam

1. I am writing this at 9:38 p.m., Monday, June 4. When it gets posted is anyone’s guess. I have managed to slip one short post through, but others are backing up. I lost a post that would not go up last Thursday, so I am writing this (and others) on Word, so I will not lose them. We will see. I notice that LJ says this DDOS attack is not related to the pulling and reinstating of many journals because of last week’s issues

2. Even though it wasn’t a great weekend, the magic number for the Red Sox eliminating the Yankees is now 95. (Thanks to Saturday's win and the White Sox winning tonight).

1. I am happy to welcome [livejournal.com profile] duncan_primeto my LJ. Thanks for adding me, dude. Counting expatriates, I have at least five Calontiri here now. Also, welcome to [livejournal.com profile] farmhouse_ghost and [livejournal.com profile] giselle0002. Yep, more Scadians. Yay! In the ickiness department, has [livejournal.com profile] get_therapy added anyone else? Read the profile. Icky, icky, icky. I feel unclean.

2. I have now gone more than nine weeks without having a beer. I have to admit, I am proud of myself. I don’t know how long that will last, but I have pretty much gotten through today.

Originally written at about 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 4.
Being saved and posted later because LJ is having Denial of Service issues.

I slowly come awake from a very vivid dream.

I realize the sun is out, a little brighter than when I usually awake, which is just before a 5:45 a.m. alarm.

I snap awake and see the clock says "6:10."

Shit.

Piss.

Fuck.

Why didn't I set the alarm?

I bolt out of bed and do the math in my head.

No shower, and I will be able to make it to school on time.

No, I don't need to call the school secretary.

Wait, where's the phone. Oh, yeah, I left it in the car.

Now I am standing, thinking about clothes and it hits me:

It's 6:10 p.m., Monday afternoon.

I hadn't set the alarm because I was just taking an afternoon nap.

I had been asleep for two hours.

Yeah.

Took me about 20 minutes to regain my equilibrium. Macaroni and cheese helped.

The good news was that I had come awake so suddenly that the dream was stuck in my head.

The dream was pretty cool!

It was apparently my bachelor party, planned by [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola. It was a major event with, I think, a band and some speakers. I should have known it was a dream because I could not get my phone to work. I was running late for something. I usually am in my dreams. I was stunned to see Bob Montgomery there. I have not seen him since high school, back in the 1970s. It was very odd, because he was always the scruffiest of the lot, yet in the dream he was all neat and had a nice haircut.

I am sorry for the four-parter, but I really wanted to get this up tonight.

Of course, the conversation with Dad was the one that *should* have seemed odd. He was sorry he hadn't been in touch, and he wanted to know about everything. I remember thinking in the dream that he lived somewhere far away, like California. He looked really thin, and he had been a small man even when I was a kid.

Of course, Dad died in 1974. (No wonder he looked thin.) That did not occur to me in the dream.

There was lots of other stuff going on, but those details are a little more hazy or lost.

I am kinda glad I remembered as much as I did.

1. I am really sorry, but I realized I was at eight posts for the day, which was the “old league record.” We now have, a “new league record.

From Bull Durham:

Joe Reardon: He walked 18.
Larry: New league record!
Joe Reardon: Struck out 18.
Larry: Another new league record! In addition he hit the sportswriter, the public address announcer, the bull mascot twice . . .
[Joe laughs]
Larry: Also new league records! But, Joe, this guy's got some serious shit.

1. And this makes it 10. "Another new league record."

2. If you have not been to Urban Oasis, a hot tub and massage place in Inman Square, this would be a good month to go there. A half-hour soak in the community hot tub is only $5! I would love to meet some folks there sometime. (No, they don't pay me, and no, this is not a mechanism by which to meet chicks.

3.I have discovered "The Rough Guide" music CD collection. (Scroll down on the link). I am trying to borrow a number of them from the library (and in fact have already).
