1. For some reason, I am not feeling overly reflective about the last year. I am really unsure why. Here are a couple of thoughts:

It was a year of huge change for me -- wedding, honeymoon, move, leaving teaching, finding a new job and more. I also had fairly good year health-wise, which is always important. Some depression stuff, but that's par for the course. Theer also seems to have been a move  in the direction of spirituality.

2. The upcoming year? Unsure. Do I have things I want to do? Of course. I do every year. We'll have to see what happens.

3. [livejournal.com profile] yendi offers a post full of facinating links.

4. For [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid, snagged from [livejournal.com profile] nazyrnn: I was eyeing these for the cats.

5. I hope everyone at the Shark party, at the Buttery and at [livejournal.com profile] pax_industria's , along with all the other Boston-area parties, has a great time and welcomes the New York in style. After last weekend's run to Maine, next weekend's drive to 12th Night (yes, [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola, we will be at 12th Night) and the imminent SCA and con road trips in January and February, we'll be celebrating here.

6. Ahhh, yes. Starting the morning with fershly brewed Dunkin Donuts coffee. French vanilla this morning. Lapsang souchong tea later today. We got a fair amount of snow last night, but the road seems clear. Oh, and if you were my wife, you would have gotten blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning. We have blueberries and rsapberries stocked in the freezer.

7. I have been doing a fair amount of housecleaning, including the refrigerator and freezer. Found some pretty interesting things, I'll tell you.

8. Like [livejournal.com profile] shadesong, I expect there to be postiness today. I will also likely be on IM. Just check my profile and ping me.

Congratulations, good friend!

You have won a very special treat for the New Year.

You do not even need to send your credit card number.

Imagine for a minute you have won The LiamStakes.

You get to spend one day with me. Anywhere you won't, and we can do anything you'd like. You can bring friends if you want.

Tell me about it.

One of my last acts of 2007 has been to actually start writing a blog.

Yes, I know this is a blog, but I am talking about a seriousm focused, semi-professional blog.

I present to you, Hops and Houppelandes!

Or, as [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid has christened it -- HoHo.

In taking advice my my friends here, I am going to write a blog that will include commentary on craft beer and on the Society for Creative Anachronism. I would love to blog on baseball, books, teaching, parenting or newspapers, but I have to focus on something. We'll see ho this works. Please come visit. Please promote it you your friend. Please get the feed it you can.

Most of all, please comment.

You can do that with your LJ account through Open ID.

Thanks for your encouragement.

I look forward you your feedback.
