Friday afternoon: The sky didn't fall
Feb. 1st, 2008 04:15 pm1. Washington County, New York, was closed today. Pretty much. On a forecast that, wlel, didn't quite live up to expectations. It was clear this morning when the school buses didn't run. I went to work, but finally, by say 9:30 a.m., the snow started, and we were told to leave at noon. OMFGBBQ. It was gonna be an ice storm. Lasted about about an hour. I got home early, joining the lovely
alethea_eastrid, who closed the library before it opened.
2. I took advantage of the "early dismissal" to pick up some beer -- Lake Placid Frostbite Ale and the always-dependable Sierra Nevada. It will probably last a while. Believe it or not, since I started the beer/SCA blog, I have done a ton of SCA stuff and decidely less beer stuff. I have visited several package stores and walkewd out empty hand. The most I have had was a combination of beer and a couple of slugs of whisky/whiskey at Birka. I got to "I love you guys!" but more because of being tired than the alcohol.
3. There's this guy on
b0st0n, snarky as Hell, so needless to say, I like him. He's here. *waves* He's doing Project Bread's Walk For Hunger later this year in Boston. People have always been very, very good to me when it comes to the Passion Plunge, so, why not help Anomie666 and click on his name right there. That will take you to his donation page.
4. The inimitable
joedecker reports a link to a story that MySpace has elimintaed a popular Agnostic/Atheist group.
Sheesh!
When I was a good Catholic boy, I knew for certain that atheists were as bad -- or worse -- than Satanists, and agnostics were, well, misguided.
I don't know when it happened, but it doesn't bother me at all any more.
5. I do not live in Pennsylvania, but I am relieved that Sen. Arlen Specter is on a crusade against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over those pesky, cheating Patriots.
I wonder how he feels about the economic stimulus package?
6. Why do I always toss the kitty treats right into the middle of the kitchen floor, so I cannot cook until the cars eat?
OK, she's done.
