1. Washington County, New York, was closed today. Pretty much. On a forecast that, wlel, didn't quite live up to expectations. It was clear this morning when the school buses didn't run. I went to work, but finally, by say 9:30 a.m., the snow started, and we were told to leave at noon. OMFGBBQ. It was gonna be an ice storm. Lasted about about an hour. I got home early, joining the lovely [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid, who closed the library before it opened.

2.  I took advantage of the "early dismissal" to pick up some beer -- Lake Placid Frostbite Ale and the always-dependable Sierra Nevada. It will probably last a while. Believe it or not, since I started the beer/SCA blog, I have done a ton of SCA stuff and decidely less beer stuff. I have visited several package stores and walkewd out empty hand. The most I have had was a combination of beer and a couple of slugs of whisky/whiskey at Birka. I got to "I love you guys!" but more because of being tired than the alcohol.

3. There's this guy on [livejournal.com profile] b0st0n, snarky as Hell, so needless to say, I like him. He's here. *waves* He's doing Project Bread's Walk For Hunger later this year in Boston. People have always been very, very good to me when it comes to the Passion Plunge, so, why not help Anomie666 and click on his name right there. That will take you to his donation page.

4. The inimitable [livejournal.com profile] joedecker reports a link to a story that MySpace has elimintaed a popular Agnostic/Atheist group.

Sheesh!

When I was a good Catholic boy, I knew for certain that atheists were as bad -- or worse -- than Satanists, and agnostics were, well, misguided.

I don't know when it happened, but it doesn't bother me at all any more.

5. I do not live in Pennsylvania, but I am relieved that Sen. Arlen Specter is on a crusade against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over those pesky, cheating Patriots.

I wonder how he feels about the economic stimulus package?

6. Why do I always toss the kitty treats right into the middle of the kitchen floor, so I cannot cook until the cars eat?

OK, she's done.

1. The Portagee Stew Beef is done. I nailed it! My sainted Portuguese grandmother would be proud. (But I forgot the carrots) The salt cod is soaking overnight. (The salt cod, for another Portuguese dish, is from Comeau's Sea Foods Ltd. of Saulnierville, Nova Scota, and the box is pressed fiber board, not wood) There are also mussels for tomorrow, to be steamed in the proper liquid -- beer. There are porkchops in the freezer. Chicken sausage, too.

2. Did you know that I was -- and always have been -- a huge Jim Croce fan? I remember when  he died. He's probably the reason I like country and folk. Umm, I think he died before much of my friends list was born. ;)

3. Oh, I will likely be doing "Liam's Favorite SCA Sings" at King's and Queen's Bardic.

4. Did you know that when [livejournal.com profile] artisticphoenix, [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola  and I moved to from Connecticut, Peabody, one of the teachers contended we were in the federal witness prtection program, and I was some mafioso from Jersey?

5. How do you spell "fucockta?" Because my Microsoft Outlook Express is "fucockta." It gives me agita.

6. "So the prince says to me, he says . . . "

I have been retaining and doing auction stuff for Prince Konrad and Princess Brenwen. They are very cool.

He's going to be in the Middle Kingdom during the bardic event, doing Pennsic negotiations (for a fair, balanced fight).

Liam: "Your Highness, if you needed to trade me to the Midrealm for Pennsic, I would do that for you."

Konrad: "No, no, no Liam. I would rather lose three allied kingdoms than lose you."

I think I will enjoy this reign.

7. Do any of you read E.E. Knight's Vampire Earth series? I have met him, and he is a history geek and very cool.

He was writing on his LJ about played Squad Leader, a World War II board game, when he was a kid.

I kidded him about it.

He said "D&D plus Squad Leader resulted in Vampire Earth." If you know the series, you know he's right. ;)
