1. Happy, happy day! Welcome to ~turquoise_woman. Come. Dance. Be merry.

2. What's the best thing about cooking?

Leftovers, baby. No muss, no fuss.

3. I had forgotten, during the long, cold, cruel winter, that the late-evening sun shines directly into my face when I am at the computer.

4. I love living where I live. I got home from work, checked e-mail, then opened a savings account, got my prescriptions and got my hair cut. If I had left earlier, I would have stopped at the doctor to order a prescription and would have picked up a stud finder. All in all, I probablky walked 200 yards -- at most.

5. The flock of sheep on the way to work has one, incredibly cute, spindly legged black lamb. It was too cloudy to shoot photos this morning. Maybe tomorrow.

6. Upon review, the Japan trip was a bad idea. A very bad idea.

7. In the future if you hear me say, "This would be a great beer for making stew," I am probablt *not* complimenting the brewer's skill.

8. [livejournal.com profile] orlacarey does it "Liam Style." That is all.

I have already pimped John Scalzi's blog. It's cool on a number of levels.

I found his entry on how science-fiction covers are chosen, especially because it had pretty pictures.

But I am thinking it's more of a mouse test. ;)

My second try . . .

1. There are maple-sugar tour photos up.

Samples:

Sugar House in operation and draft horses at other Sugar House.

2. The fish-fry saga continues.

3. The phrase "test of its mettle" should be banned from all Olympic headlines.

4. Why do we have studies like this?

Big Bellies Linked to Alzheimer's Disease

Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, March 26, 2008; 4:00 PM

People who have big bellies in their 40s are much more likely to get Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia in their 70s, according to new research that links the middle-age spread to fading minds for the first time.

The study of more than 6,000 people found the more fat they had in their guts in their early to mid-40s the greater their chances of becoming forgetful or confused or showing other signs of senility as they aged. Those who had the most impressive midsections faced more than twice the risk of the leanest.

5. Speaking of gorgeous book covers:

Yeah, Subterranean Press is doing her series, plus a Jim Butcher novelette and his Harry Dresden series as well.

The Subterranean Press limited editions will feature a full-color dustjacket by original Temeraire illustrator Dominic Harman, plus four full color illustrations (in the limited edition), with a fifth illustration exclusive to the lettered edition. In addition, our volumes will be printed in two colors throughout on 80# Finch paper to bring the novels a level of class and grace they so richly deserve.

Limited: 500 signed numbered copies: $125

6. Sally Jenkins over-reacts (in my opinion) about the Olympics. Too early for this.
