1. If you have asked for something off my "For Sale" list, please send a check to me at PO Box 133, Granville, NY, 12832. I *think* you all know my mundane name. Rebecca. If you add $4 for shipping, that would be great. Boston folks: If you can get a courier to Coronation, that would be great!

2. Speaking of which, who all *is* going to be at Coronation this weekend. Please say hello if you get a chance. I will try to not be cruising at Warp 2 all day.

3. I love it when people use really cool tag lines:

"Baldrick, you wouldn't know a subtle plan if it painted itself purple and danced naked on top of a harpsichord singing 'Subtle Plans Are Here Again'."

4. I pretty much  lost interest in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament this year. I didn't even think to look for a score. I had to stumble on it in [Bad username or unknown identity: Please contact me with questions.]

1. I am aware that Bill Buckner threw out the first pitch. I am pleased.

2. I had bad formatting this morning. Rhodri crashed my post. ;) so this part got left out:

Last call for auction donations for Coronation: Please contact me with questions.

3. How do you write a novel centered on Medieval Re-enactment and never do to an SCA event? Methinks your research methods are flawed.

4. Somehow, in a friend's journal, the topic turned to zombies -- again.

First of all, new poly bingo square: Relationship broken. Add zombies.

Second, and most important, on April 18, you will be able to see "Zombie Strippers." That's right! You owe it to yourself to watch the trailer. Thanks to spectralbovine for that one.

5. Here's the link the next time anyone asks if there's even been a queen or princess by right of arms.

1. I really love my LJ friends. Two active discussions today. One intended, one not.

2. Speaking of which, [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid tells me her library has the book that was mentioned in the link:

3. Good Jon Krakauer interview on the Jeffs' polygamy situation, with special attention to the boys. It's several years old, but still very good.

4. In case you missed it in the thread, [livejournal.com profile] folo1 posted a very cool link to the origin of the word farby, which has some Civil War re-enacting details and cool pictures. It also has a link to Ioseph's SCA jargon, which is, by turns, hilarious and horrifying.

5. Comfort Food Nigbht here at Chez Casa Villa Haus. I have rice pudding in the crock pot, and Alethea is going to make baked macaroni and cheese.

1. So here's an idea for a fencing tournament at Pennsic.

Please save me from myself.

"Tiger Pit Tournament"

Instead of the traditional "Bear Pit," we will have a "Tiger Pit," in which three fencers enter a 20-foot diameter pit of bamboo stakes (or hay bales). They fight until one person remains. You get a point for each bout in the pit and a point for each person you kill.

At night, with tiki torches. ;)

This is all [livejournal.com profile] argent_tyger's fault, because he posted this and got me scheming.

2. In 1994, a woman working on her Masters degree in Connecticut decided to make part of it a conference for GLBT Youth. WE're talking 1994 now.

This year, she and the group she created put on its 15th annual True Colors conference.

Today, this came across my e-mail:

True Colors, Inc. is proud to announce that founder and current Executive Director, Robin Passariello McHaelen, MSW was selected by the National
Education Association (NEA) to receive the 2008 Virginia Uribe* Award for Creative Leadership in Human Rights in recognition of her efforts on behalf
of those lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) youth. McHaelen will join 14 other civil and human rights recipients who work
tirelessly to promote social justice and dignity for all citizens at an awards ceremony in connection with NEA's Annual Meeting in July.

The girls and I got to know Robin really well when we were volunteering and taking part in the conference, originally known as "Children From the Shadows," and later renamed and moved several times because it got bigger and bigger. It is the largest gathering of GLBT youth and supporters in the nation.

She is an amazing lady. I am glad to have known her, and I am glad the NEA is honoring her.

My favorite story is the time [livejournal.com profile] theresat and I went to an organizing meet for one of the conference. Now, we both believed at the time that we were all tolerant and shit, but it still rocked our world when Robin said:

"Well, we'll be all set at the information desk, because my wife is eight months pregnant, and that's where we are going to put her."

Emphasis mine.

Yeah, T. and I justkinda looked at each other and realized we were no longer in Kansas.

3. Why didn't anyone tell me "Stark Raviing Sane" was a Hamlet reference?
