1. Welcome, welcome, welcome to ~dcis_warrior. We are all crazy here. You will like it.

2. I got pretty wound up over a letter to the editor in a paper I used to work at today.

I wrote a rather passionate reponse as a letter to the editor, but it's on the computer at work.

What you need to remember when you read this is that "Day of Silence" first started in nthat area in the mid to late 90s. [livejournal.com profile] theresat and I were among the organizers of one of the Gay Straight Alliances that started it.

I honestly though we had come a long way. Nope. Being truant is better than being exposed to the evil of homosexuality.

From The Day (New London, Conn.)

To the editor;

 I am writing in regards to the upcoming Day of Silence (DOS) that is being held this Friday in thousands of schools across the nation. By remaining silent, the intent of the pro-homosexual students is to disrupt the classes while promoting the homosexual lifestyle.

The DOS is a one-sided campaign to manipulate acceptance of homosexuality by every student. The risks of homosexual behavior are well-understood by public officials, but are being ignored by some politically correct school administrations.

In seeing a list of the Connecticut schools that will be observing DOS, I noticed that the following local schools will be participating: Ledyard High School, Montville High School, New London High School, Norwich Free Academy and Waterford High School.

I encourage parents of students who attend these schools to send letters and make phone calls to express your views. As a parent, perhaps you could choose to have your child not attend this Friday.

Parents could also insist that schools offer students a responsible opposing view on the risks of homosexuality. Parents, please speak out, and let your convictions be known.

Editor's note: The writer is assistant pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

3. A lot of people got pretty wound up over the "Open Source Boob Project." I have read some excellent commentary on it, and I have read a bit of dribble.

I hate to say it, but a lot of guys don't seem to get it.

It was one of those "No good can come of this" ideas.

I am fascinated, though, how it became the "Perfect Storm" for LJ.

(I don't want to get into an argument here. There are plenty of places to do that)

4. Smoked jalapeno cheese is a good thing!

5. There's more coming. There's too much for a single post right now.
