1.Another gorgeous Spring day in the North Country. There are still lambs! The tractors are in the fields! It's so cool.

2. Take a look at these job requirements:

Every individual who joins us embraces and exhibits these qualities:

• A desire to work in a fast-paced start-up environment
• Self motivated but thrives in a collaborative setting
• Not afraid to stretch beyond their comfort zone
• High energy ~ entrepreneurial spirit
• Positive attitude toward problem solving
• Sense of humor

Now understand that the posting is for www.tributes.com, which will be a site to post obituaries and remembrances of the dead.

Wired has the whole story. The guy who started monster.com is doing it.

3. If you were my wife, last night’s dinner would have been a salad of fresh greens and cucumbers and a steak sandwich with brie on sourdough bread.

4. It’s never good to whine around me.

On a Teachers’ Chatboard:

Someone: We didn't get any recognition (so far, anyways.) Usually  google has decorations for "holidays" and there is nothing there. There is nothing written in the papers either.  Gee, I don't feel very appreciated...

Thank you to all of you who work with our children. You are all truly appreciated!!!

Me: I do not need a made-up holiday. I feel appreciated every time I go re-read the notes my kids and their parents have sent me, and I know I have done well when I think about the kids I have had an impact on.

In the 11 months I have been out of education, I have come to realize that while the job sucks the life out of you, some teachers have it a lot better than they think they do.

So I have this friend, right? One of the classiest people I know -- [livejournal.com profile] oaken_glen. You might know her as Marion. If you know her, you know she's one of the special gems of the SCA. She's a giving, caring person in the SCA and in real life..

She's very cool. She's been involved in a lot of royal reigns, and is going to be involved in [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid's.

She also does cool stuff outside the SCA, including an upcoming three-day walk to raise funds for breast cancer.

I am in the process of making another cool friend -- [livejournal.com profile] dcis_warrior. I just met her at Coronation. Her user name comes from the fact that she's dealing with a specific form of cancer. She's involved in the [livejournal.com profile] brewenthefaire's reign and is going to help out in the next one, too.

Anyway, from what I can tell they do know know each other well yet.

But . . . [livejournal.com profile] oaken_glen is dedicating one of the days of the three-day to [livejournal.com profile] dcis_warrior.

From her fund-raising website:

A couple of weeks ago, a friend and I were discussing the 3-Day. It turns out someone I'm acquaintances with has breast cancer.

We aren't close but the few times we've chatted, I could see just how awesome this woman was. After hearing that she was battling breast cancer, I knew what I needed to do. It isn't much but one of the days during the 3-day is going to be dedicated to her. It's the least I can
do.

This is what we're all about folks. The heck with politics. The heck with playing in order to earn cookies (well, except for snickerdoodles.)

Playing the right way means reaching out and helping others. Bless you, Marion.
