Pass it along!

I apologized for the fuzzy and dark ones. I am trying to learn to shoot in court.

1. I planned ahead and took a personal day today. That's gonna make it a three-day week. It's a good thing I did, because we got home from New Jersey sometime after 8 p.m. I will post about the event separately, but it was delightful.

2. The trip back was really nice, and the fact that the city of Paramus does not allow Sunday shopping probably saved us $200 in bookcases at IKEA. But this allowed us to really stock up at Trader Joe's. I never really appreciated the Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in the Boston area until we moved out here to the land of no decent stores of that type. There is a petition to bring a Trader Joe's to Albany/Saratoga, but apparently we are not as upscale as, say, Portland, Maine. (That's a joke!).

3. I would really love it if a lot of my friends could come to Northern Region War Camp this weekend. The weather forecast is good and, honestly, the bug level at this point is lower than usual because of the weather. Gas in the area is about $4.19 at this point.

It's a great site, and there's a ton of stuff planned. I will give you a beer or a soda if you come. ;) (And a hug or a kiss, depending on who you are).

4. Is there anyone coming down from Canada who can bring a couple items to Northern Region War Camp. Please e-mail me at liamstliam@goonbox.com.

5.  If you are coming up through Albany and want to stock up on beer or booze, google directions for "Oliver's Beverage." It is as good as any beer store in Boston, and there's a liquor store attached. Not far off the highway.

1. Several people have asked about Her Highness' device.

Better than 1,000 words. (I could write a 1,000 words.) ;)

2. Bhakail Baronial Investiture was wondrous. Everyone was super to all the royals, and they got to visit with Mary, queen of Northshield.

3. The deadline for recommendations for Their Highnesses first poll for Chivalry, Laurels, Pelicans, Order of the Tyger Combatant, Maunche, Silver Crescent, Sagittarius, and OGR is July 15. If you have something, TRH would appreciate it if you would send it soon. Please be as complete as possible in the writeup and let us know where the person is from and what events he/she will be at, starting with Coronation.

4. Their Highnesses are actively seeking bids for Twelfth Night  (first or second weekend of January) and King's and Queen's Arts & Sciences (during the Winter Reign) Champions. Those bids should be sent as soon as possible.

Bids for K&Q Fencing need to be in by Sept. 1.

Bids for K&Q Bardic are due Oct. 1.

Thanks to everyone for everything!

For the rare few people who do not read [livejournal.com profile] themajordomo  or  [livejournal.com profile] sca_east .

(Could someone post to EK List? I know the graphic won't work)

Harken all citizens of our  realm, to a challenge issued by Her Royal Highness, Alethea Eastriding, who invites her loyal subjects to submit
a design to be used upon her Royal Favors.

Surely there are no artists or artisans more puissant than those of the East!   So it is that our most radiant Princess will entertain artistry suitable for a variety of media, including but not limited to embroidery, leather work, painting and beadwork.

Visual puns are welcomed, within reason, as are heraldic canting, or other innovative and readily executable designs, with an eye to medieval sensibilities.

Designs may be submitted as hard copy or via the internet as .jpg format.  Entries must be submitted no later than 7/15/08, and must include the name, mundane name, contact information and permission for
use by the entrant.*

For ease of entry Her Highness' arms are:

Azure, a fret within and conjoined to an orle argent.

The blue is heraldic, royal blue; argent may be rendered as either
white or a pale silver-grey.

Submit contest entries to:

*  I,   (Mundane name), known in the SCA as (SCA name) do hereby give my permission for the artwork submitted, or any part of same, herein to be used for and by Her Royal Highness, Alethea Eastriding, as her royal favor and for purposes of her own desiring from this day
forward.

There is an item in Waltham, Mass., that I would very much like to have in my hands at Northern Region War Camp by Saturday afternoon.

If someone who is coming could pick it up, or if someone could get it and deliver it, say, to [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola or someone else who is going, that would be great.

The pickup would be Wednesday evening, most likely.

Thanks,

Liam
