1. Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] alysten, [livejournal.com profile] klynn330 and [livejournal.com profile] summers_place. I love me that post-Pennsic rush.

2. This will surprise no one who knows me.

Our local paper, which is a pretty good one, annually names a "20 under 40" award group that recognizes the accomplishments of 20 local folks who are under 40.

Aside, I have been living up here for almost exactly a year.

I knew four of the 20 -- three from work and one who is a doctor I have had a few beer discussions with at Davidson's Brew Pub.

3. Speaking of which, I finally came up with an appropriate Indian name for myself -- "Works The Crowd." Anyone remember "Tastes Like Chicken?"

4. My obligatory comment is that I have no one to blame but myself for my blood pressure rising because of EK List. I know how to unsubscribe.

But the train  is still sliding sideways and headed for the gorge.

OMFGWTFBBQ! This is one of the worst ever. And you know what, the whole change in the chirurgeon thing was *two years ago* for God's sake. Stop playing the victim. Things change. get over it.

5. I am about to dive into tonight's chores, and I have loaded maybe two dozen NPR stories to give me something to listen to. I love NPR. I have not been listening that much this week, because I bought five SCA filk CDs at Pennsic, and I have been listening to them. I will have reviews up on them, too.

6. For those of you on EK polling lists, polls close tomorrow. Recommend early. Recommend often.

So what do all y'all think?

(I would happily take suggestions for what should be included in each class).

SCA Songs of War: A survey of songs about war and battles that are commonly sung in the SCA. Songs that will be played an discussed will include "Roland," "Heart of a Warrior, "Song of the Shield Wall," and "One of Us." The class will be taught by Master Liam St. Liam, who will not sing.

War Songs: Funny You Should Ask: Many of the most humorous SCA songs focus on fighters and fighting, and in this rollicking class, we will listen to a number of them, and we may even do a little singing along. Songs will include "I'm a Duke, and You're Not," "Ban The Fancers," "Death, Doom and Gloom (This Song is From Calontir)" and "Landskenecht Battalion." Master Liam St. Liam will conduct the fun and might even be pursuaded to sing "Shag Foreign Fighters."

Five-Minute Battle Histories: This class will highlight eight to 10 of the most important battles in history prior to 1600. The battles will be chosen partly for their relationship to the SCA topics and tactics and will include the Battle of Hastings, Agincourt and the Battle of the Teuroberger Wald. Taught by Master Liam St. Liam, who has spent 16 years as a History teacher.
