1. Work is pretty interesting these days. One one hand, I am waiting to hear back on on job and am hoping for a couple of interviews elsewhere. On the other hand, we are really moving forward with some things and getting the Fall planned out. I have had a breakthrough or two to go what some of the not-so-good stuff. We will have to see what happens.

2. I am still mesmerized by Sarah Palin. There just seems to be so much to this.

I highly recommend this New York Times article that sums up some of the issues beyond pregnancies. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dernelof for the initial mention). Fascinating stuff and well-written.

Maureen Dowd is not impressed, either.

I especially liked this paragraph (though I do not like name-calling):

Even as they push Sarah Barracuda as the glamorous but tough hunting and fishing mom who can juggle it all — she’s the only nominee, as Fred Thompson bragged in his convention speech, “who knows how to properly field dress a moose” — they rant at reporters who wonder how she will juggle it all and question some of her judgments.

I just cannot imagine how Sen. Clinton feels about this. While I loathe her, I sympathize. Can you imagine, with all the experience she has and everything she's done, she might have to see Sarah Palin take the oath of office. Scary, scary stuff. There was a character like Palin in a Tom Clancy book, and it's a good thing Jack Ryan was there to save the world.

(Wow, bitter Liam is bitter. Why am I so visceral on this one?).

3. I just pulled fresh, hot macaroni and cheese out of the oven. It's [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid's special recipe, and I love it.

4. I am officially the public relations director for the Lake George Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. It's a volunteer position. I got a special mention in the e-mail to the committee about having $700 already . Thank you everyone. Link here.

5. I am covering high school football Friday and Saturday for the local paper. It's something I really enjoy. I have the big Corinth at Schuylerville game Friday and I get to walk from my house to the local high school to see Whitehall at Salem. That's the Railroaders and the Generals.

6. Thanks to everyone who has already responded to my request for help at Crown. Keep those notes coming.

7. If you are planning to have feast with us at Coronation, today would be an excellent day to send in your reservations, because the feast is more than half full. I know the cook, and I highly recommend him.

1. Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] rayyal3 and [livejournal.com profile] ultra_lilac. It is good to have you here.

2. In the previous post, [livejournal.com profile] nemomori, who knows me only through LJ said this regarding my ranting (my word) about Sarah Palin:

I am curious though what sets you so on edge and bitter about her. I mean, I know you are far more liberal than I - but she doesn't seem overly offensive to me even trying to view her from a liberal mindset.

I responded, but it got me to thinking. There are folks here who have known me in person for 15+ years.

How do I come across? Am I Liberal? Conservative? A mix? I would love to hear from family on this, too.

Liam: "Do you think I am Liberal or Conservative?

Alethea: "You're . . . odd.

3. Interesting Washington Post story for those who use Facebook.

4. Never, ever think, "It's warm. It ain't gonna rain. I can leave the truck window part-wide open." Stupid Liam is stupid.

5. If you are in Boston, I have a friend who could use some help moving on Sunday. Anyone?

6. My lower back is totally knotted up by a combination of a lousy computer chair at work, a not-so-good one at home and lots of stress.

7. The following is one of the items at this weekend's EK Travel Fund auction at John Barleycorn. It's a silent auction, so you might want to send a someone as a proxy to bid for you. ;) The auction will close 15 minutes after the end of court.

The Viceroy and Vicerine of the Crown Province of Ostgardr have offered

A weekend at "Chez Alexandre" including lodging (on our sofa-bed), subway fare to the museum of your choice (Cloisters vs. Metropolitan Museum of Art, for instance) and a medieval meal cooked by Baron Alexandre.

"Chez Alexandre" is their apartment on the upper west side of Manhattan near Columbia University.

This may be the best single item I have ever seen at an EK Auction.
