1. Welcome to

2. Sometimes a small, local event can be just the thing you need to remember the little things you love the SCA. Now Coronation was great. I cannot imagine that it could have been better. But yesterday, at Winter's Nights, Concordia of the Snows put on one of those classic, "I love the SCA" events. It was a bardic event, and even the king had a great time. (Darius is awash in culture this reign. He loved the mumming and Commedia last weekend, and he really enjoyed yesterday. For her part,
alethea_eastrid was positively giddy after the event. She reveled in it. I just loved sitting and talking to folks. I got a little long-winded at times. (Surprise!)

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:14-year-old phenom commits to Badgers
Madison - With a college scholarship already in hand, Jordan Schmaltz heads to high school in a couple of weeks.
The 14-year-old, who will be a freshman at Verona High School when class resumes next month, has given the University of Wisconsin men’s hockey team a non-binding oral commitment. The earliest the defenseman will see the ice for UW is the 2012-’13 season.
The Badgers began showing interest in Schmaltz after he attended a national elite camp in May and offered him a scholarship earlier this month.
“I just felt I really liked the campus and I really liked the coaches as well,” said Schmaltz, whose family has UW season tickets. “I thought this would be a perfect fit for me to go to college.”
Schmaltz, who is 6-foot-1 and 150 pounds, also received serious interest from North Dakota and Notre Dame.
6. I have fresh pumpkin soup that Alethea made and fresh sourdough bread from the farmers' market. Yay!
7. I get an e-mail today that reads "Queen's Equestrian Champion."
It's from the Caidan duchess who was at Coronation:
(What is the name of the beautiful young lady who sat next to me at Coronation banquet?)
That made me very happy. (We call her Doucette). ;)
