1. I do not always listen to the voice in my head, but last Tuesday, I realized that I would have no motivation to go to work today. So I asked for a vacation day to tag onto the long weekend. For a wide variety of reasons, including the fact that I think I will get more stuff done today to add to the stuff I have gotten done in the last three days, I am glad I did that. The cats are going nuts with just "The Fat Hobbit" here, and they have been especially "friendly."
2. I am also glad I will be here, because I'll be ready to greet
alethea_eastrid when she gets home. She left Wednesday to fly to Nova Scotia and returned last night by car, because she developed a bad ear infection. But, I hear she held up well at the event. I will post a thank-you post later. All I can say to the Three Ladies In Waiting of the Massive Road Trip is that I love each and every one of you dearly.
3. I am fairly pleased with the amount of housecleaning I have done, including the kitchen bathroom, hallway and the bedroom. (I do not go in the sewing/cat room for fear of my life). I have also cleaned a good portion of the living room, mostly while watching "West Wing." I am taking a break and watching :Snakes On A Plane," finally. I have made it through 25 minutes already. I have also totally nearly all of the polls for this round of peerages and high orders of merit. (Please don't ask, we will be sending out notifications over the next week or so).
4. To our Atlantian and Ansteorran friends: On Saturday, Queen Alethea sent Baroness Mira Fionnbhar of Argyll, who holds Arts & Sciences awards from Atlantia, Ansteorra and the Wast Kingdom, out with a writ to consider her elevation to the Order of the Laurel. Her Excellency must answer this writ Jan. 31 at the Marketplace at Birka in Manchester, N.H. Please feel free to pass this along, and if there is anyone who wants me to deliver a message during the vigil, please let me know.
5. Can I get a roll call for Bergental/BBM Baronial Yule?
6. The second item (right now) on John Scalzi's blog is a picture of Bacon Cat!
7. It's Young Baron Christopher:
