Mod Hat: Sock puppet accounts
Apr. 30th, 2009 08:36 amAs many of you know, a "sock puppet" account is one which is often created just for commenting or trolling. Usually it includes no details, has few or no friends and follows only basic LJ communities and those in which it wants to snark.
While some folks value their privacy for various reasons, having a functioning, legitimate account from which you cannot be identified is just fine.
As we have talked about,
sca_snark is a community changes at times. The idea of creating an account and attacking someone is not what we're about.
We have added the following rule.
6. Have the common courtesy to use your regular LJ accounts to post here. Please do not create a "sock puppet" account to post here. If you have more than one account, no problem. But please use one that has some information in it. Obvious sock puppet accounts will be banned.
Because the thread was started by a sock puppet account, I plan on removing it later, but I did want to give people an additional chance to respond to the issue.
If someone wants to snark this particular situation from their regular account -- and can write an effective snark -- that's fair game.
Thank you,
Liam
