This oughta be interesting . . .
May. 2nd, 2009 09:42 amWell, my life is never boring.
I get home last night, and there's a message for me from the sports editor of the Youngstown (Ohio) Vindicator. (I bet this never happens to you.)
Anyway, I had left my contact information at SportsJournalists.com in case someone needed a game covered or a story written in upstate New York.
This guy needs tonight's Mahoning Valley Thunder at Albany Firebirds game covered.
This is afl2. Not only is it indoor football, it's minor-league indoor football. And get this, the "major league" indoor football league -- the Arena Football League -- is on hiatus for a season.
Oh, and the teams are a combined 1-9, and Mahoning Valley's only win is over, you guessed it, Albany.
But he's going to pay pretty well for a single-game story, and it's OK with
alethea_eastriding.
It's too bad, though, because there's Professional Bull Riding at the Glens Falls Civic Center tonight.
Indoor football, by the way, is played on a hockey-rink sized field, and, yes, you can slam guys into the boards. The scores are usually something like 73-45.
I have been to one game, I think it was in Albany a while ago, but I have never covered one.
Life just gets more and more fascinating.
