Help a friend on the three-day Cancer Walk
Jun. 4th, 2009 12:27 pmI have committed to myself that sometime in the next year, I will expand my fund-raising participation beyond the Special Olympics to breast cancer research.
I am not ina position to do anything this summer, especially the Susan B. Komen 3-Day in Boston in July.

If you can spare a donation, please head over to his site.
I believe some folks on my Friends' List are working crew on that one, too. Remind me, please?
If anyone else is doing a similar walk or event, please add a comment.
Travel Fund Auction at Ducal Challenge
Jun. 4th, 2009 03:29 pmThanks to the persistance of Lady Alesone Gray ("But, Liam, I *want* to do an auction!), and the assistance of Baroness Marguerite, there will be silent auction at Ducal Challnge this weekend.
Times are not exact, but I would expect final bids will need to be in by 3:30 p.m. or so. Check with the auction staf.
1. If you have a good auction item or two, please bring them to Alesone and Marguerite by 11 a.m.
2. If you are merchanting and would like to donate, please see them by 11 a.m.
3. If you would like to donate services -- cooking, a lesson, camp help, etc.) please contact leave a note or sontact me privately. I will make up the gift certificate.
I would suggest you specify the service to be at Northern Region War Camp, Pennsic or another major event. That just makes it easier to collect.
Thank you for all your support.

Wise billboard companies in Topeka
Jun. 4th, 2009 03:49 pmFrom the same reporter
WICHITA - At least two Wichita billboard companies say they will not run billboards from an animal rights group that were prompted by the death of a local abortion provider.
"It's in poor taste considering the crisis that's going on in the community right now," said John Lay, president of George Lay Signs Inc.
"I don't see anything patently offensive about the ads, but the timing is just not appropriate."
The proposed billboards, designed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, urge people on both sides of the abortion debate to go vegetarian. One says, "Pro-Life? Go Vegetarian"; the other, "Pro-Choice? Choose Vegetarian."
