ALBANY -- The three teenagers charged with murdering 22-year-old Richard Bailey last October paid homage to guns, gangs and prison in rap songs and Internet posts -- and one spoke about the slaying on the street, authorities said Tuesday.
De Von Callicutt, 19, of Rensselaer. who police say fired the deadly bullet on Oct. 20, revealed his involvement in the murder sometime before being sent to state prison on an unrelated crime, according to a person familiar with the investigation.
That, in turn, helped Albany police crack the case leading to the indictments unsealed Monday against Callicutt, Ricardo Caldwell, 18, of Schenectady. and King Modest, 17, of Albany, authorities said.
All three face possible life sentences if convicted of killing Bailey during a botched gunpoint robbery at South Lake Avenue and Yates Street about 11:20 p.m.
