You don't need to buy a newspaper. Just stick with me.

1. Calontiri lookin' good

2. Stupid baseball player. I worked with Vickie from the day she started at New London. She's a professional and does not deserve this shit.

3. Naked men from Westerly. It's a good thing I didn't stay in my hometown.

4. Football blowouts: The Art to Winning Big: Excellent NPR piece. I covered the guy who caused the Connecticut 50-point rule and was the first punished by it.

5. Rabbi says: "Not to Vaccinate is a Sin:" Readers have a field day. Seriously, the piece is interesting the commentary is fascinating.

6. How to make scary pumpkins: The Boston Globe has some fun.

7. Wearing tuxedo in picture excludes girl from yearbook: Would it be different if she wasn't a lesbian? What it be different if it was a sword and chainmail? Would it be different if it was not Mississippi?

1. So the truck needed a new radiator. So far, I highly recommend Joe's Garage in Rensselaer. Fortunately, the team I was driiving down there to cover -- and I never got to the game -- got beat pretty badly.

2. [livejournal.com profile] gwenlianna is my new hero. She picked me up Friday and took me to Geek House, where I was staying. Saturday, we spennt the day "not shopping" in the Albany area. The only thing I really got was a couple of leeks at the Troy Farmers' Marker, along with the obligatory morning coffee. She took me to the Colonie Farrmers' Market, where we got to visit with [livejournal.com profile] naturespirit. We spent some time in an independent bookstore in Troy, went to Flights of Fantasy and stopped at the new Asiam market in Albany. We were OK, even with the tripe and the chicken feet until I saw a packet of something that said. "Cat Xiao" or something like that. Then we found the live food and got really squicked by the frogs, then the turtles. We also went to the Food Coop.

I wish I had the money to spend at those places. We'd be having some kind of Elk Stew with Chinese vegetables and other healthy stuff.

To thank her (yeah, I always have a plan), we had dinner at Wolff's Bier Garten. (She said it was OK.) The food is much improved. I had schnitzel and she had sliders. She had the Lindemann's Framboise. I had one beer, my first in about a month, an Oktoberfest. The cool part was "one beer." No desire to pound more down or pick more up. Well, not much of a desire. I was pleased.

3. My job is stable, (Well, I get my yearly evaluation Thursday), but I am still job hunting.

Here's a gem:

Bowling Coach.
Send letter & resume to Cathy Stanilka, Athletic Director,

4. Speaking of job searches, I am basically the office's lead person for this:

Job matchmakers get new arrow

It's ain't working as well for us, yet.

5. Today is going to be a perfect day for Portagee Stew Beef.

6. Weekly Plug for Agni Dentati's Polar Plunge plans. Please help us if you can. You have five sicked-cool people to choose among.

7. More from my friend Dave Zapatka on facebook, who is posting old high school pics.

Upper right. Paul Gentile is standing up in the doorway. I am sitting below him with my hands clasped, obviously pontificating with someone about something.
