1. It's 45 degrees on the first Saturday of April here in the North Country, with the temperature headed to 78. Time to get out and smell the crocii (crocuses?).

2. Here's the macaroni and salami pie recipe:

One pound of hard cheese (the family recipe is quarter-pound yellow American and three-quarters of a pound white American. I used sharp cheddar).
One pound of hard salami (I used Genoa)
One pound of boiled ditalini (small, tube-shaped pasta. You can use elbows).
Eight eggs
Salt and pepper
Two pie plates with crust on the bottom

Preheat over to 375 degrees

When you order the cheese and salami, have it cut about a half-inch thick, four slices, then cube it.
Boil the ditalini, then mix everything together, salt and pepper to taste, and pour into the two pie crusts.
Cook at 375 for about 35 minutes. If pie is solid and crusts are browned, you are good to go.

3. At 8:05 tomorrow night, with the temperature around 60 degrees, Josh Beckett will face off with C.C. Sabathia as time begins again at Fenway Park.  I cannot wait.

4. It's not a complete list, but Serious Eats has a nation-wide list of brew festivals. Thanks to my wife for pointing it out.

5. I want to thank everyone sending job leads. Keep 'em coming. You guys rock!

6. Who planted "Screams of the Vegetables in my head?"

7. There is an amazingly powerful slide show about Good Friday and the start of Easter Weekend around the world at MSNBC.

Edit: Just go look. The pic I posted was way too big. Picture No. 25 is just amazing.

Missouri Eagle Scout earns every merit badge available

Associated Press

Michael Liebig can light a fire without a match, bake chocolate-chip cookies using a box and tin foil, and sleep soundly between two inconveniently placed rocks.

In January, he had to go scuba diving. In Missouri.

Scuba was merit badge No. 121 for Liebig, an 18-year-old Eagle Scout who has earned every merit badge in the book, plus two that have been retired since he earned them.

The Kansas City, Mo., teen learned about the scuba badge only three months before his 18th birthday deadline, so he and his dad dived into the water of a flooded mine.

Badge No. 122 was the hardest. Bugling isn't Liebig's thing, but he now can toot 15 songs.
