*Sigh*

I have honestly been trying to be better about wasting time, but I just left two hours of my life in the wasteland that is SCA political bullshit.

If you're not on EK List, this is an excellent time to be smug about that. ;)

The discussion is polite and centers on people running events or serving as officer in local groups in which they do not live.

It has, of course. produced dozens and dozens of comments in the last three hours.

Lots of different ideas, which is good.

I was better than I have been. I had five posts that I spiked rather than sending, and I am refusing to engage with a specific individual who gives me agita.

Anyway, back to the important work -- my ElvisFest preview.

1. A very happy Liamverse welcome to [livejournal.com profile] aeliakirth.

2. I suddenly have another three or four hours in my day!

Thanks to this morning's rain, the girls' softball game I was going to cover today is now moved to tomorrow. Yay! (Note: I managed to fill up the time writing).

3. I love my friends. I really do, and clearly they are paying attention. Both [livejournal.com profile] nomadmwe and [livejournal.com profile] cvirtue sent me "I think you would like this" links to Rick Reilly's piece on a high school softball team that forfeited a game so the players could spend the time teaching the players on a brand-new team how to play the game. Yeah, I love it.

4. This blog entry on social-networking does not get so much love.

I am trying to learn more about social-networking, and this guy is involved locally on LinkedIn. Every time I try to read him, I just shake my head. Is it me, or is it a vocabulary issue?

5. From the "Lemme share a compliment I got" department, we find this:

"In return, I hope you know just how refreshing . . . truly, delightfully refreshing, it is to converse with somebody who can go from intellectual to depraved and back again so smoothly!"

6. This is from Purple Pawn, a great blog about gaming.

The BoardGames.com domain name sold at auction  for $450,000. BoardGames.com holds the number one position in Google search results for the term “board games.” According to Google, there are 550,000 searches for exactly that term each month.

7. Two thoughts from covering high school sports last week.

If the pitch goes across the plate right at the batter’s nose, don’t yell, “Good eye, batter. Good eye.”

I don’t care how proud you are, I really do not need to hear about how your son’s fourth-grade lacrosse team will be a great high school team and make the state tournament.
