1. Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] anthonysaker .

2. I lost the saved items in my inbox this afternoon. I have found some. But if you are waiting for a response from me on something, please send a note to liamstliam (at) gmail.com.

3. I want to applaud some awards at Coronation. [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid, [livejournal.com profile] knoggleknot and [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola all received Queen's Honors of Disctinction from [livejournal.com profile] dervishspin . [livejournal.com profile] dulcinbradbury was elevated to the Order of the Maunche and [livejournal.com profile] argent_tyger  is a member of the Order of the Golden Rapier. Did I miss anyone?

4. It's two months until the annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics New York into Lake George. Please go here to join our team or to make a donation to me or [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola.

5. Balloons not launching and the Fiber Festival.

6. A for-profit company running libraries?

7. The real issue with waking up at 5:30 a.m. is that you *should* have a two-hour-plus headstart on the day. It just doesn't usually work out that way.

Based on several situations that have happened here and on facebook over the last couple of weeks, I just thought I would stop for a second and share my LJ philosophy with all ya'all.

Welcome to my living room. Beverages are in the fridge, please help yourself.

If you disagree with another guest, do it politely, please.

It's OK to disagree. Heck, I may disagree with folks too.

If you cannot do it politely, please don't do it.

If you have gone back and forth several times, take it private. Politely if you please.

If you have issues with another poster and his/her comments, please let me know. If you would like posts removed, please ask me.

I want to encourage debate, and I do not want to be afraid to post contentious topics.

I will try to follow these rules in your personal LJs as well. If I don't, please feel free to call me on it.

To further the analogy, I look at locked membership groups (such as [livejournal.com profile] sca_snark) as private clubs, but with the caveat that you never know who might get admitted.

I look at open groups, like [livejournal.com profile] sca as sitting around in a coffee shop, the park or at a campfire. In all cases, you never know who is going to drop by.

I think it's important to be polite everywhere. Am I always? No, I am human. But I do try.

1. Rainy Autumn evenings are perfect for homemade potato leek soup. Tomorrow -- curried lamb stew.

2. Is there anyone in the Greater Boston area who is a Heather Dale fan and might be able to help her and Ben with crash space the weekend of StrowlerCon - Oct. 8-10, or maybe just one night?

3. The video is just stills (does that make sense?), but I had never heard Jerry Garcia do "Whiskey In The Jar," and it is soooo cool. The Metallica version is, errrr, different.

4. And the headline of the day is: Coach banned for mooning fans. Did I mention high school coach?

5. You know your husband lived in a fraternity house when . . .

You: "The cat barfed on the computer bag."

Him: "Want me to throw it in the shower?"

You: "N. . .Hey, that's a good idea."

6. As the British soldiers are left behind, badly outnumbered, before the final attack in "Zulu," Pvt. Cole says, "Why does it have to be us?" Why us?" and Colour Sgt. Bourne replies, "Because we're here, lad. Nobody else. Just us."

7. OK, I have tried to post two different pictures here. It just doesn't want to work.

Instead, let's thank Nasir al-Tawil for writing these immortal lines in "Drums In My Heart:"

Drums, drums, drums, drums.
Drums in my heart are drumming,
I hear my kingdom calling, my bonnie Calontir is calling to me.
Our army loves a warring, waste not a minute whoring, my bonnie Calontir is calling to me.
My lord I hit your head
YOU'RE SO FUCKING DEAD!!!
Mmy bonnie Calontir is calling to me.
Drums in my heart are drumming,.
I hear my kingdom calling, my bonnie Calontir is calling to me.
Drums drums drums drums drums .... (fading)
