LAKE GEORGE – Things looked grim for “Sheep With Teeth”with four days left to go.

The other guys were well ahead, the answer looked like “No!”

Team Momentive had nearly reached six thousand bucks

Agni D.’s almost two grand back, which I think kinda sucks.

Yes, friends, Agni Dentati’s run to finally break out of “second-place syndrome" seems destined to fail for a third straight year. TEAM Momentive has pushed its total donations for the Lake George Polar Plunge for Special Olympics New York to $5,861 The good news is that even with four days left, that’s a “new league record” for the local plunge.

The bad news is that it leaves the vaunted “Agni Dentati” team well behind, at $4,025, which hard-charging “Adventures in Food Trading” at $3,695. Pretty grim, says this ink-stained wretch.

I would say it’s over

“Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!” said team co-captain Bill Toscano. “And it ain't over now. 'Cuz when the goin' gets tough. . . the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go! What the fuck happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer . . . ”

Added the other co-captain, Nicole Toscano, “Dead! Daddy's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right . . . ”

Wow, just wow, is all this writer has to say about that little exchange.

In some ways, Mr. Toscano is right – psychotic, but right. He is still in position to be the top fund-raiser for the third straight year. He is currently at $1,555, while John Scharf, of evil TEAM Momentive is the leader at. $1,680. It appears at this point to be a two-person race. Kirsten Pink also from evil TEAM Momentive, is third at $1,060.

In all seriousness, though, the Lake George is on a record pace in many areas. Even with four days to go, the plungers have already raised $37,517. Last year’s total was about $42,000, with a good chunk of that coming on the day of the plunge. In the last two weeks, plungers in the St. Lawrence Seaway and in Plattsburgh, raised of total of just over $42,000. There are nine plunges around the state after Lake George.
