1. There are no new friends to say hello to, because you need to be posting in order to get people who read what you write.
2. I got one of those "You're not posting on LJ, are you OK?" notes the other day. When I looked at my account, I realized my last post was 13 days ago. That may be close to "a new league record."
3. The main reason is that I have been incredibly busy lately lately. The last day I actually didn't do anything for any newspaper was Dec. 1, and the next day that happens will be this Friday, when I replace writing with driving to New Jersey. Hmm, unsure on that one.
4. Take last weekend fo for example: Saturday morning I drove 45 minutes to the Saratoga National Cemetery for a story for the local daily on volunteers putting wreaths on 800 graves. Came home, wrote it, then went to a hockey game to cover for the Portland paper. Write that story and came home. Sunday was two more assignments for the local daily -- the big annual model train show and "Laughter Yoga." (If you go to www.poststar.com and do a search on my mundane name, you will find all these stories). I also took some pretty good photos. Monday was working all day in Whitehall, the town I cover for the local weekly paper I work for, then Tuesday was all day in the Granville office paginating that paper on InDesign. I have little training with InDesign.
5. This weekend's a little less hectic. Worked for the weekly yesterday, including an evening basketball game. Soon, I will head out to the local ski area for an opening day story. Tonight is my wife's office Christmas party. It's at Great Escape Lodge, and we get to go in the water park and hang out with good friends. Tomorrow is just a trip to Whitehall for some photos fo the Elks Christmas bash, then work on stories and -- and this is important -- work on several resumes and cover letters I have pending for friends. Yes, I am behind in my resume stuff, but I am going to make a concerted effort to catch up.
6. I am still reading my entire LJ frends list and posting as I can.
7. I have been doing some posting on facebook, and that might have some effect here, but the point is I am no longer spending there majority of my day on the computer at home, working on resumes and writing.
