Prates . . . redux
May. 21st, 2011 09:10 pmThanks, folks.
I love the fact that some of you can help me understand myself.
I think the comments that I loathe them because it's deliberate violation of the rules of our Society was an excellent comment, as was the idea that while other non-traditional groups have been around since I started playing, the pirates have not.
A few comments on posts.
1. The Tuchux, in my opinion, are a special case. They have been around longer than Pennsic has, and I thin they have established a place at Pennsic. Other than a couple guys from Montreal. I have not seen Tuchux at events other than Pennsic
Were there any at war camp this weekend.
2. I do not feel I need to "live and let live" people who are violating Society rules, just like if someone uses the word "bitch" in a link to EK List, I am not going to smile and ignore.
3.It was
evilnicola who summed up the Ravenspittle issue by noting that few of them actual portray that kind of pirate in the SCA. Mercedes is not a pirate, Dwarf is not a pirate.
4. I have a lot less issue with movie-inspired personas when they are period. (Highlanders with katana, not so much).
Thanks again.
