As Toby Keith says, "I ain;t as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was."

Went to The Pogues with [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola last night and it rocked. I managed to not kill any kids despite operating on 5 1-2 hours of sleep.

I am hawk-sitting, and one of the highlights of my day is to thaw the mousicles and feed the hawk. That's enough said about that. ;)

Reading a new W.E.B. Griffin book, "The Hostage," and the latest Jim Butcher, "Dead Beat."

Wow, my life's pretty boring.

We couldn't get a slot with Habitat in the hurricane area, so we may be going to South Carolina instead. Need to firm up plans.

Of course, what's gonna happen while I am down there?

The Arrogant Worms are going to make one of their ultra-rare local appearances at Club Passim.

That's all for now.

Good call on the Jim Butcher, he's a fun read. If you like Science Fiction, CJ Cherryh's latest in the Foreigner series is out, in hardcover, it's absolutely worth the price.

And I'm still trying to shake the image of mousicles.

Thursday, April 20. Paul and Storm open.

Heh. Just caught that. What an amusing concert for 4/20.

I know this because I've already been asked to babysit, but the chances of me getting from Brookline to Chelmsford in time approach zero.

Apparently I am the only person I know not interested in going to this concert. Which makes me think I should go anyway, to give it a chance. Except then I would feel bad about not babysitting.

If you're reading The Hostage, look for this quote:

I have not gotten that far yet.

I still need to read the book that precedes The Hostage. I started it, but I never finished it.

I have read everything he's written.

By Order of the President isn't bad, but I liked The Hostage better.

I've been reading him under the name W.E.B. Griffin since about 1982 when I was living near many of the German locations mentioned in The Lieutenants. Come to think of it, at this very moment I'm in one of the buildings mentioned in The Lieutenants, IIRC.

Mousicles are not so bad. A few weeks ago at school (I do my selective in the wildlife center) we had a recooperating Cooper's Hawk that needed his food (which was how he got his meds) chopped into centimeter or smaller pieces. His food was a whole fresh quail and i got the honor of chopping it, injecting it with meds and serving it up in it's own carcass. Be grateful for your mousicles. :)
