A one-hour experiment . . .

So I am cranking away on the stuff for my Teachers As Writers fellowship. I have to have some of it finalized for Saturday.

I decided to see what happened if I just put my head down and wrote for a solid hour. I kept 10-minute interval counts.

The piece I was working on had 1289 words when I started, and an hour later it had 3513. That's 2224 words in 60 minutes or 37.5 words a minute. I don't touch-type, but this stuff was coming off the top of my head, so it was easier to do.

It's about community service and volunteering in high schools.
