Putting off work . . .
Sep. 18th, 2006 07:32 pmI do love LJ.
1. So this is how much stuff my NHS group does at school. (I hope I have not told this before). Student from the School Store comes up to me and wants to know if they can sell stuff at Parents' Night. I say, "You need to ask the principal." She says, "I already asked the assistant principal, and he said I needed to ask you because you are in charge."
*shakes head*
We're in charge. ;)
2. Please come visit Sunday afternoon. You don't have to fight. We are in Waltham. Start time is 4 p.m.
We are hoping to have youth fighting, too. I will keep you posted.
From my roommate:
This Sunday at Tea with Weapons, Sir Thorson will be helping folks
learn, remember, and practice basic fighting skills.
This is a great time to try on armor or fighting for the first time,
get back into armor after a lay off, or go over some basics after an
injury. All skill levels are welcome, there will be fighting
fighting fighting. [If you are an experienced fighter please keep in
mind the fighting level of the person you are facing.]
There will be [brownies] tea [brownies] and [brownies] dinner
[brownies] either ordered or provided (financial contribution to the
food is welcome but not necessary). Please indicate in advance if
you're attending and have any dietary restrictions/requirements.
Please RSVP. You can do it here or e-mail me at bill (at) goonbox (dot) com.
Can someone forward this to the Bridge, Stonemarche, Quintavia and Smoking Rocks lists? Thanks.
3. So Muslims are unhappy because the Pope reads from Islamic history, noting that Islam sometimes involves violence. Muslims then kill a nun and her body guard. (I know, it's not all the same people, but . . . )
I was saving these from last week.
4. Tuesday, Sept. 12: The L.L. Bean Christmas catalog shows up.
5. *Sigh* ``Crocodile Hunter'' Steve Irwin's manager appealed to fans not to seek revenge against stingrays, as authorities investigate a spate of killings since the television star was fatally struck by one of the sea creatures.
``To hear that people are actually going out and killing stingrays and cutting off their tails is barbaric,'' said John Stainton, in an interview with Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio today. ``I can understand that some people probably are doing this out of vengeance, but they should not.''
At least 10 stingrays have washed up on beaches in Australia's Queensland state with their tails cut off since Irwin died on Sept. 4, Queensland's Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries said in a statement yesterday. Animal welfare officers are investigating, the department's General Manager Rick Symons said.
