A reminder to my fellow Massachusetts residents as we bask in the glow of yesterday's election and wait for Virginia to fall our way, too.

The Legislature will be voting on constitutional amendments tomorrow, and a 25 percent "yes" vote will send the anti-gay marriage amendment to the polls in 2008.

I just sent the following to my state representative and state senator.

I urge you to contact them with your opinion.

Congratulations on another term!

I am hoping you will vote against sending the gay marriage question to referendum tomorrow.

I know it's sorta sneaky to not send it through, but I just survived six months of "selling wine in package stores will destroy the very fabric of our state," and I am not ready for two years of gay-bashing.

I am just being honest.

1. 1. I cannot believe the president of the United States said this:

Mr. Bush repudiated his own campaign attacks on opposition Democrats as content to let terrorists attack the United States, and signalled that he did not bear any grudges against those who called him "incompetent" or "dangerous".

"This isn't my first rodeo," he said.

2. If the Democrats do win the Senate, is there someone already picked out for President Pro Tem of the Senate, like Nancy Pelosi was already chosen for the Speaker of the House? [Found the answer: Harry Reid, D-Nev., who took over from Tom Daschle]

3. Come January, Nancy Pelosi will be second-in-line to succeed to the presidency, behind only Dick Cheney. (Can a zombie be president?)

4. Seven of the eight DOMAs passed. That means 27 states have them. You’d only need 34 states to get a federal constitutional amendment through, assuming those states voted for it. The only “winner” was in Arizona. I think it got turned down because it also said no civil unions, no nothin’. Arizona also passed an “English is the state language law.”

5. Tomorrow, the Massachusetts Legislature votes on whether to send a DOMA to referendum in 2008. You only need 25 percent to do it.

Yay, we won Virginia!
