Teaching is like a box of chocolates . . .
Oh, wait. That’s been done.
So I get into school this morning, with one week left until vacation.
The first thing that happens is the ROTC sergeant giving me a ration of shit because I didn’t think it was appropriate to allow a girl to leave my class in the morning to get her hair done (in the school Cosmetology Room). Didn’t need that. His boss came to me later, we talked, and it seems to be all good.
Second period, a girl has a fairly serious asthma attack in my room. Security and the nurse come and take acre of it. I was fairly relaxed about it because I have experience with these things. No, evilnicola, it was not as bad as one of yours.
I teach better when I am riled up, so the first several periods went really well.
The day progressed. It was a bit hectic because I had 50-plus kids handing in their packets for National Honor Society selection.
And one current officer bugging me about how we're gonna raise $8,000 to go build houses for Habitat For Humanity. (expensive plane tickets).
As I am leaving school, I check my e-mail, and there's a message from the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund about this year's fund-raiser.
Yep, I do just a little.
Had a good weekend that included Thai food on Thursday, Greek food on Friday, the obligatory breakfasts at "In A Pickle" a couple of times and Indian food from Punjabi Dhabi. (conveniently located next to Urban Oasis).
Met some new friend at
shadesong's. Yay. Got to watch a BPAL sniffing frenzy.
I am tired just thinking about it.
