1. I would like to say again just how much I enjoyed going to the demo in Glen Linn Saturday. It reminded of many things I really enjoy about the SCA, tings I sometimes forget. Thanks to everyone involved.

2. United Airlines was kind enough to change the time of our return flight to an arrival of about 9 p.m., Thursday, July 26. Is anyone interested in picking us up at Logan?

3. I got all twitchy when I read that the average wedding costs $27,000. That’s a half-year’s – or more – paycheck for a lot of people. I just don’t see all the expenses and all the tiny, little details involved. Now, I am romantic, and I like a good wedding as well as the next guy, but some of the hoops engaged couples jump through just seem a little nuts. We’ll have a nice wedding, but we’re gonna come in way under the average.

4. This is kind of a crazy question: Are any of my Midrealm friends (well, I know one is) going to Push for War in June?

5. I wish the Peabody Weekly news posted all tis stories online. The Peabody reporter did a wonderful job on a really big story on out Habitat trip.

More to come . . .

No, I am not trying to get that earworm stuck in your head. (Here: "Istanbul, not Constantinople")

But . . . I have been reminded several times over the last couple of days just how small a world it is.

A couple of the conversations were sorta private, but a certain baroness and my favorite Medievalist know what I mean.

I wasn't gonna say anything, but today I was in the Whole Foods in Arlington, and I saw a lady with a 1980 Olympic team reunion short on. I didn't ask at first, but I saw her again, sitting down as I left, and I felt compelled to chat her up. (I know, you are stunned).

So I tell her how incredibly impressed I am by anyone who makes an Olympic team, then I natter about my time covering crew and eventually get to the fact I covered the Harvard-Yale Race.

Now if you know Harvard crew, you know that Harry Parker has been coaching there since Kennedy was president.

I am still talking about this, because clearly she has the clue crew, and I am about to say, "Harry is a piece of work." when she politely tells me . . . "I'm Harry's wife."

That's the kind of thing that's been going on.

Thanks to the magic of wikipedia, I now know her name is Kathy Keeler. ;)

Oh, and another quick story:

It seems that theresat has been spening a lot of time with her old peeps back in Ledyard, and she ran into a young man the other night who said, "Your dad really helped me out in high school." Now, as I remember, I did. I went to the wall for him (not on bad things, on good things), but the fact that he remembered made me feel great.
