1. Rainy morning in the North Country.

2. Today is going to be a catch-up, get-things-done and get-my-head-on-straight kinda day.

3. Squirt guns are evil: For all the librarians on my list. Be sure you are not setting kids up for a life of crime by rewarding them for reading with squirt guns.

4. Credit to [livejournal.com profile] cvirtue for this one about students doing the right thing.

5. There will be no baseball discussion today other than to sayu the sports radio idots who say the Yankees could not possibly win the division have absolutely no frame of reference.

6. I am usually supportive of the president. (Eastern kings, too). But to crow about being able to reduce the number of troops in Iraq -- just after you put together a surge -- seems like cutting back on beer after rolling through a 30-rack in a weekend.

7. Oh, and to whack the other side. Gen. Patraeus is a professional, an officer and a gentleman who took his oath more seriously than most. Yes, people lie under oath, but you don't accuse someone of it just because you disagree with what he said.

8. I hope rossroads at Canterbury goes well. A lot of people put in a lot of hard work.

9. I have "White Knight," the latest Jom Butcher/Harry Dresden novel, from the library. I started reading it before, until [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid point out I had not read the book right before it.

10. For the record: The top five listings after the job meme went through all its iterations:

  • School Counselor

  • Driving Instructor

  • Communications Specialist

  • Mediator

  • Motivational Speaker

1. Those of you who were at Crossroads at Canterbury now know why I was so unhappy that I could not make it. There are four new members of the Order of the Silver Crescent -- [livejournal.com profile] ladytat and [livejournal.com profile] chrystie69. What do they have in common? They both failed to say "No!" when I offered them a protege belt. PS: If anyone knows who the other two were, I would love to know. I also understand Viscount Edward of Gendy was honored as a Tyger of the East. I don't always agree with him, but he's done more for the Society than many, many other people. Oh, and thanks to Their Majesties and the folks who have Silver Crescents who supported them. I also need to thank Frigga and Asgar for getting the medallion down there and [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola for making sure it got to court.

2.Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] wldrose! It's great to have you here.

3. This link has information about GLBT writing contests for students and teachers, and it also has a great link to reviews of books on the topic.

4. I dealt with what I had to deal with today, then [livejournal.com profile] alathea_eastrid and I hit some of the local cheese farms that were part of the Washington County Cheese Tour. We also hit a very cool local bookstore, Owl's Pen, and a great yarn store. I made burgers for dinner, we had good cheese, and I made blueberry bread pudding.

More later.
