1. The ever-lovely [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola has prepared a breakfast of eggs with cheese, homefries like Daddy makes, bacon and toast. We also have strong coffee. [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid and I are quite pleased. Yes, parents, if you cok for your kids, and they like it, they can cook for you someday. Now she wants to go grocery shopping so she can cook dinner.

2. I am currently writing a cover letter for a position at a local paper that would involve updating the web site with photos, news, etc. Heck, I do that already in my LJ. ;) See, that's what I am looking for. A job I love that I can do better than a lot of other folks. [Updated: Sent the information in.]

3. Listening to "Midnight Special," and folk singer Don White (in a concert recorded at the Somerville Theater) noted that a lot of folk concerts are held in UnitarianUniversalist church.

"If you piss off the Unitarians, you're out of a job."

He went on to explain how to do it . . .

"The only way to piss off the Unitarians is to say:

"God is a man.

"A Caucasian man.

"Who love the military industrial complex."

4. The cats are really unsure about Niki. She's clearly a new critter in the house, and they have been closed in their room the last two nights. I think they are trying to figure out whether the two "Two-Leg" is going to stay. I think they have figured out that the "No Leg" -- the Australian Python that is spending the winter here.

5. There will likely be raspberry-picking today.

6. More later.

1. This  is really cool. I have heard of this guy before, but I have not seen him listed on imdb before.

2. Are House Elf and lolcat basically the same language? If you give lolcats clothes, what does that mean? "I can haz compression shorts?"

3. I wish I could have been at Coronation to see [livejournal.com profile] lumineux and [livejournal.com profile] wingblaze running court together. That's a lot of heraldic talent in one place!

4. Heya! Welcome [livejournal.com profile] ohsusana! It's nice to have an old friend here.

1. Dinner, couresy of [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola, is going to include breaded chicken (which I had been jonesing for but had not mentioned) and pumkpin soup.

2. It's pretty amazing that three of the four divisional series are over already.

3. Two great definitions from the Boston Globe's list of teenage slang:

Agnorant: Someone both arrogant and ignorant.

Multislacking: Slacking at a series of things all at once.

4. Clearly, [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid has been living with me for too long. I handed her a glass of Imperial Mocha Java Stout to try and the first thing she did was to sniff the beer, like a beer geek. I love it! She also proclaimed it "interesting," which is a major step up from her usual, "It's beer."

5. The latest small word story: I just got off the phone with Mario Torres. Mario is the football coach at Granville High School, and I needed to talk to him for a story for the paper (because the reporter took the weekend off). At one point, I mention Thanksgiving Day games and the fact that my high school has played Stonington something like 138 times.

Mario: "I went to college in Connecticut."

Liam: "Where did you go?"

Mario: "Sacred Heart."

Liam: "When did you graduate?"

Mario: "1998."

Liam: "Did you play with Jamie Romeo?"

Mario: "He was a couple years ahead of me. He was a big baseball player . . . My brother and I played with his brother Ben."

Liam: "Jamie was in my class when I student-taught at Montville."

Conversation continues. I had stayed in touch with Jamie for a long time.

Alethea and Niki giggle.

Alethea: "You know you area freak of nature, right?"

There are a lot of pictures of you folks and some of your loved ones in the two new sets I have posted.

Coldwood!

Pennsic XXXVI!

Please pass on, link and use. Just give me credit.

1. [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid just called me a "philistine" for not knowing the reference, "Ring Around the Lesbians."

2. [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola: "Mixing Woodchuck and vodka is a bad idea.

[livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid: I didn't need to be told that."

3. Today, I have e-mailed on three job openings and sent regular mail to three also. That's nine resumes, cover letters and references out since Friday.

4. I have also culled some of the best of the honeymoon photos on flickr.

5. I am not at all surprised that the Yankees did not get swept. Good for us, though. Whoever we play (Go Indians!) will have gone deeper into the rotation than they had hoped. Not having to see C.C. Sabathia in Game 1 would be terrific. (Although Beckett-Sabathia is rather intriguing).
