1. Single-game Red Sox tickets for select April and May games, as well as 'Sox Pax', will go on sale to the public Dec. 8 as part of the team's "Christmas at Fenway" event, according to a press release from the team.

Single-game tickets will be available online (www.redsox.com) and by phone ((617) 482-4SOX) starting at 10 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 8.

Additionally, fans can register at redsox.com between noon on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and noon on Monday, Dec. 3 for a chance to attend a special event at Fenway Park on Dec. 8. All who attend that event will be eligible to purchase tickets. The Fenway event will include Red Sox players and alumni, according to the team.

Single-game tickets will be available during this purchase period for the following games: April 9-10 vs. Detroit Tigers; April 18-20 vs. Texas Rangers; April 22-24 vs. Los Angeles Angels; April 29-30 and May 1 vs. Toronto Blue Jays; May 2-4 vs. Tampa Bay Rays; and May 19-22 vs. Kansas City Royals.

Nine different 'Sox Pax' will be available, and each includes tickets to four pre-selected games. Most single-game tickets--including all Green Monster seats and Right Field Roof tickets--will go on sale in late January and February.

Here's the form to try to attend!

([livejournal.com profile] evilnicola, you are already magically entered. I am, too.)

2. That was from this Globe blog, which is excellent.

3. Oh, and then there's this from the Globe and other outlets:

The Yankees have added Phil Hughes, the most highly rated of their top young starting pitchers, to the package they are offering the Minnesota Twins in exchange for two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana.

New York also is offering to send the Twins center fielder Melky Cabrera and a third player, who would be a midlevel prospect, according to a baseball official who spoke yesterday on condition of anonymity because the talks are ongoing. New York won't include Joba Chamberlain and doesn't plan to include both Hughes and Ian Kennedy.

All while listening to "Midnight Special," then Seanan McGuire.

1. I love it when friends' lists intersect!

In [livejournal.com profile] elizabear's journal:

There's a really nice piece of short fiction in Reader's List called "Wind Tunnel Dreams: 30 shards of story in 30 days".

Now, I am almost sure that while [livejournal.com profile] elizabear lives one town over from the author -- [livejournal.com profile] shadesong -- they don't know each other. But I know and love 'em both.

2. Dang, I had a couple of useful links, now I do not know where they went.

3. I am going to start keeping track of "Things I Have Learned From My Geekdoms."

Here's one from folk music.

Nelson’s Blood: This same story is recounted on a number of shanty and alcohol sites.

Legend has it that grog aquired thenickname "Nelson's Blood" after Trafalgar (1805). To preserve LordNelson's body, it was placed in a barrel of rum. Legend has it that when the sailor's learned of this, they drank the rum. From that time on, grog was also known as "Nelson's Blood."

4. Time to unplug the computer and move stuff.
