FRiday evening: Around the Horn . . .
Dec. 21st, 2007 08:02 pm1. So, the Yankees are a classy team!
Yankees to play Hokies
The New York Yankees will travel to Blacksburg, Virginia on March 18 toplay an exhibition game against Virginia Tech. The organization donated $1 million to the Virginia Tech Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund in May.
"Gotta give ya credit, Chapel. C'mon, perfect game."
2. I know some of you will find this cheesy, but I credit Curt Schilling for getting the post out there, and I will also say I gotta believe this is the first beer commercial that has ever made me cry.
3. I am the one people write to when they have to get something for a baseball fan. I love it!
The ruquest was for book suggestions:
I cannot recommend Dan Shaughnessy's Senior Year highly enough. It's his chronicle on his son Sam's senior senior at Newton North (Mass.) H.S.
This is all sports, but it's amazing. We in the trade simply call it BASW
I have read good reviews of The Entitled by Frank Deford.
Another generalist book, but Hate Mail from Cheerleaders by Rick Reilly rocks my world.
I don't know about Harvard Boys, but it sure looks cool.
For stat geeks, there's Baseball America's 2008 Almanac
This is an inexpensive quiz book
That's it for now.
