Friday evening: Yay!
Feb. 8th, 2008 06:45 pm1. Happy weekend: It;s been a busy week, and I am glad to have some time to relax.
2. Gone but not forgotten: I stay in touch with a guy I used to work with (he once wrote in a recommendation letter that my column about the hot dogs at Muzzy Field in Bristol, Conn., was one fo the things that inspired him to become a sportswriter.
He sent me an e-mail a couple of weeks ago, because he was going to do a story on a wrestler whose dad is a close friend of mine and the principal at the school wher I used to teach. Now, remember, I left Ledyard in 2001.
He wound up quoting me in the story.
Read about it!
3. The best fund-raiser evah: Corset For A Cure! Scroll through the artists. Thanks to
prisbatty for the link.
4. My shoulder: By Curt Schilling.
5. A quote from a principal who turned around a tough school:
“It’s just textbook counterinsurgency,” he said. “The first thing you have to do is you have to invite the insurgents into the government.” He added, “I wanted to have influence over the popular kids.”
