1. Oh frabjous day! Welcome aboard to [livejournal.com profile] cadhla. You just made my day. (Yeah, it's a gray life I lead.) ;)

2. I have a fresh pot of Foglifter coffee and NPR all dialed up and ready to go. Time to play on the Internets. (One of the guys I work with also works at Cool Beans in Glens Fall, and he can get the good stuff at half price.

3. Speaking of NPR, When I saw this NPR story about a guy traveling the country to fix typos, I immediately thought of a number of folks on my friends' list, including [livejournal.com profile] rufinia, [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid and [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola.

4. So today is a bonus day. I expected to be in a youth training in Albany, but one of my colleagues got it call off because of a forecast of possible icy rain. Trouble is, the forecast was just for up here -- and not too severe. The folks coming from the New York City area just had rain. Oh, well. I will see what I can get accomplished today. We have our big Youth Summit this Wednesday. We are expecting 300 kids. Ought to be good. I am continuing to do a lot of presentations, and I am also starting to beat the bushes for new Coalition members and for our mini-grants. The following week, I will have two days of training in Syracuse.

5. I love the Monatana governor who says the federal government keeps mandating "hare-brained schemes" and says sometimes you need to "Tell them to go to Hell," He's talking about the "Real ID" program.

These are a few lines from some of my favorite songs I have heard at SCA events.

Have fun!

1. They found you on the hilltop with your face turned towards the foe
And never has there been a day of such great woe.

2. But Prince Hal has broken my right wing of battle,
And he's for his father a-whirlin' around

3. This cap of burnished metal is the symbol of a land
Supporting all we cherish, the dreams for which we stand

4. The fire died to embers; he drank steadily on.
When I woke in the morning, the captain was gone.

5. I have a dove displayed upon a billet
Chequy Or and gules
Between a pair of cockatrices
Clad in motley like a fool’s

6. Here's twenty thousand Cornish men
Will know the reason why!

7. Don't worry 'bout those "period" songs,
Or about the way they're made.
We'd rather hear the raunchy ones,
About the girls you've laid.

8. And there, behold for them to view, beneath his Scottish skirt,
Was nothin' more than God had graced him with upon his birth!

9. It is always a temptation to a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say:--
"Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away."

10. When he stands like an ox in the furrow with his sullen set eyes on your own,
And grumbles, 'This isn't fair dealing,' my son, leave the Saxon alone.

11. When it comes to heavy fightin'
There's some things I really like
First there's the fact that I'm the winner
I never have to buy my dinner
.

12. At landfall in Cypress they refused Berengaria,
Richard in anger has answered in steel
Now the crown of Cypress he's added to England's,
I've added knighthood's gold spurs to my heels

13. No matter the spears on the hill,
Or how hard the shield wall strives,
The Saxons lose Hastings again and again -
And nobody ever survives
.

14. We'll grant him six feet, plus as much as he's taller
Of land that the sons of the Saxons will hold.

15. With a bigger heart than many
And a slot shot to respect

1. But most important: [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola is, at least temporarily -- not booooored. I talked to her as they were getting in line for boarding. Yay! She is flying to Amsterdam, then has a connection to Berlin, where her sister will meet her, and Berlin will fall.

2. I got some writing done this morning, including requests for updated reference letters. (The ones from last year still have me teaching at Peabody). Two teaching jobs have come across in the last few days. I get updates all the time, but these are the first withinb driving distance. In New York, it's all done through an online system. [No, I am not necessarily planning to leave the current job. These jobs are for the Fall. I want o be ready just  in case something good pops up.

3. My closet is clean and organized. I spent hours in the room and finally got it done.

That's it for now.
