This is reall cool!

People are answering the questions!

I am getting great responses, and I love it.

According to my notes, I owe questions to:

[personal profile] elzregina
[profile] vairavi
[personal profile] rufinia
[profile] driftingfocus[profile] 1_big_grizz

Is there anyone else who either asked or would like me to ask them five questions?

Would some more folks like to ask me?

I have 17 sets of questions to write. Oh, hi [livejournal.com profile] tashabear.. Hi, [livejournal.com profile] mama_hogswatch. Now it's 19.

I love my friends.

Lemme get some answers out of the way first.

From [livejournal.com profile] nazrynn:

1. What were two of your favorite memories from when you lived in Connecticut?

Watching my students crank out a memorial issue for the other Journalism teacher, who had died on a morning before school.

Watching both girls wrestle in a youth tournament at Ledyard High School. Niki was really aggressive and fun to watch. Theresa, at one point, was on  her back, but reversed the kid and pinned him. The place exploded, because they knew her.

2. When you move to a new residence in a town or state far away from where you previously lived, do you ever do any research on the history of that town? If yes, what interesting things have you learned about where you live now?

Absolutely. Always.

We live on the site of the first jail in Washington County, NY.

There were an absolute ton of Revolutionary War battles around here.

There's a ton of stuff up here.

3. When was the last time you did a walk around the entire circuit of Pennsic?

I try to every year. I may have missed last year, because my visit was so short, and because I had been sick.

4. Would you be interested in a "photographer's walk" around Pennsic with me this year?

Sounds like a plan.

5. What are some of the things you've learned since becoming a Pelican?

Be careful what you say. People sometimes actually listen to you.

And, by extension, watch *how* you say things. People sometimes take you seriously.

Oh, and there are people who think that peers are what's wrong with the Society.

From [livejournal.com profile] zarhooie:

1. What is your best SCA-related memory?

When the East won the Rapier Champions' tournament last year, largely because [livejournal.com profile] artisticphoenix completely outsmarted the Midrealm when she decided who to send out against whom.

2. When did you know you were likely to get Pelican'd? Did you have a hunch, or were you completely blindsided? What's your favorite part of being a Peer?

About seven hours before I got sent on vigil, I was drinking with the king and whining about how I would *never* get a Pelican. I was hung over, and wanted to stay home from the event.

3. If you could have three things that you don't already have, what would they be?

Health.

A couple of books published already and contracts for at least three more.

Faith in myself

4.  What's your most depressing (or happiest, whatever) relationship-related moment?

I don't like to think about the depressing stuff.

Funniest (and a happy one).

The scene is a Thai restaurant in Waltham, Mass.

[livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid and I had been dating for less than a year. We knew we liked each other, but he had not even begun to broach long-term plans.

Me: So you have a BA from Binghamton, and the equivalent of a Masters from the arts college in London, and you are getting a masters in Library Science?

Her: Yes.

Me: (In a particularly dumb, sexist comment): Wow, I will have to get another masters, because my wife can't have more degrees than I do."

[stunned silence]

Me: [I have no idea what I said. None].

Her: Giggling.

Me: Well, at least you didn;t run screaming from the table.

Her: No. I guess I didn't.

5. What are your favorite shoes?

My black sandals.

From [livejournal.com profile] make_your_move:

1. Are we still having coffee?

Anywhere you say. Any time you choose? As often as you'd like. ;)

2. Will I still be plotting having coffee with the Princess if her schedule allows?

Time will allow. The other day, we were discussing her availability for certain royal-type events -- some of which she wants to attend, and some of which she doesn't.

"Oh, no. I cannot get there. I will probably have a date with Mym."

Yes. She trusts my judgment. And  [livejournal.com profile] xgreenjudasx is already planning to kidnap her for tea.

3. When are you arriving at Pennsic?

Friday afternoon/evening, I hope.

4. Will you (both) please come to our party on the middle Sunday of war? Lusty Wench Tavern (E17) o'dark thirty?

I certainly will. As long as I can bring a hot chick. Oh, wait, you'll want me to bring two.

I bet [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid will find a way to come by.

5. Is it Pennsic yet?

It was Pennsic weather up here last week, but, alas, no.

1. Welcome aboard to ~grimmbear and ~muppet_masters.

2. I was making (well I still ma making) pork cutlets. They were double-wides, so I split them with a knife, then went to pound them out a littl emore.

I said to myself "Do we have a meathammer?"

Then I said: "Bwaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaawwwaaa. "Meathammer."

Then I used the ice cream scoop.

3. I keep telling you that you should be reading the New York Times Olympics blog:

AMERICAN PLAYING FOR RUSSIA Reaction is mounting in the U.S. over the decision of WNBA star Becky Hammon to play for Russia at the Olympics. The latest word comes from U.S. coach Anne Donovan, who told ESPN, “If you play in this country, live in this country, and you grow up in the heartland and you put on a Russian uniform, you are not a patriotic person in my mind.” Donovan had not listed Hammon as a prospect for the U.S. team, even though Hammon was a runner-up for the MVP award in the WNBA last season.

Hammon, a guard for San Antonio in the summer season, plays for CSKA Moscow in the winter season. Last year she took Russian citizenship so that CSKA would not use up an allotted import spot on its roster, a common move in international sports.

Donovan says she finds Hammon’s move “unfathomable.” Hammon, who holds dual citizenship, told The Seattle Times earlier this month: “I know how I feel about my country. I’m very proud of what America represents to the world. But this is a basketball game. This is not life or death.”

4. I just don't know about Keith Olbermann as the host of "Meet The Press."

5. It has been roughly a week since I realized that the "printer" my wife pulled out and put on her desk is actually a printer/scanner/copier, something I am in need of.

6. The Ask-me-a-question list is now at 23. It won't be done tonight.

;)

7. Dwarf says: "Coldwood is this weekend!"

Actually, he says :Food is for the weak!"
