Friday night: End of quite a week . . .
Aug. 29th, 2008 11:00 pm1. OK, first of all, this has to be one of the fastest interviews I have ever gotten. It took under 11 hours for my cover letter, resume and references for the Print on Demand coordinator to result in an interview. I will be going to Northshire Books for a 3 p.m. interview Monday. Prayers and good thoughts appreciated. Also, if you have any thoughts or ideas regarding what I should talk about at the interview, please let me know.
2. I got that news while sitting at the bar at Davidson's Brew Pub in downtown Glens Falls. Yep. A brewpub with free Internet. All the yneed now is a hot tub.
3. So, only about a half-dozen people knew this, but I got a layoff notice two weeks ago, because the state Department of Health had not sent us any of our grant money, and we were six weeks into the fiscal year. So the EOC, for whom I work, told the state "No money, no initiative, and we are laying Bill off." As
liaden_m so poetically said: "The state blinked first." The good news is is gave me free rein to apply for other jobs, so now it will not come as a surprise if I leave. I am still waiting to hear about an interview for the Special Olympics New York volunteer coordinator position.
4. Cool things from TeachersNet:
I work in an awesome district! Tomorrow night is the first football game of the season, and it's at home. So, in honor of all those who died from, are being treated for, or who have survived breast cancer, our football players are wearing pink socks. Our entire district is encouraged to wear pink - even the kids. They're supposed to have some sort of presentation, and at the game, they are going to be doing special fund raising for breast cancer research. Tomorrow is going to be an awesome day! Karen
I think that is wicked cool.
5. The New York Times Olympics Blog appears to be ready to continue with the Paralympic Games. Again, wicked cool.
6. "No bah-stid ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bah-stid die for *his* country." -- Gen George S. Patton.

7. And I leave you with a quote from Road House, just because.
Doc: Do you always carry your medical record around with you?
Dalton: Saves time.
