I am still on a high almost five hours after my dip in Lake George.

"Look, there's a dip in Lake George."

Crystal-clear, blue-sky winter's day. Snow on the ground. Temperature in the teens, no wind. Water temperature, I am told was 40 degrees.

Got there early, hung out. Found out for sure that I was the highest fund-raiser (thanks to *everyone*), and that we finished second in team fund-raising. The there of us were topped by the 20+ folks from the Saratoga Rugby Club.

But that's OK. Between us and Saratoga, we probably raised close to 10 percent of the total. They were talking about more than $60,000 in this one plunge. It's one of 12, and they are shotting for a million dollars for the year.

There was limited access to the beach, so we stood in line for a bit, then got to the beach. [livejournal.com profile] gwenlianna, [livejournal.com profile] jenphalian and I walked in steadily together, with me a little slower, and when we got out where the water was waist-deep, just in front of the Scuba lifeguards, we plunged out heads under and headed quickly back to the beach, where our support crew,[livejournal.com profile] lbitw, [livejournal.com profile] sideshownate and knoggleknot were waiting for us. I didn't really feel cold until we were walking to Davidson's for beer and stuffed mushrooms more than an hour  later.

It was glorious!
