Dec. 21st, 2008
1. Welcome to
cortejo
2. I will tell you right now what I am most thankful about at this moment. I am thankful I do not have to go anywhere. I am thankful we have electricity, heat and Internet. I am thankful that even if it keeps snowing all night (quite possible), that it still won't be terrible getting out in the morning. I am thankful I live in a village where I can walk to the convenience store.
3. Yeah. Still snowing and in the time since I got back from my walk, maybe 35-45 minutes ago, it has started coming down much harder.
4. I have been doing a lot of Internet stuff, reorganizing my computer and working on job hunting stuff. If you know of any Social Studies teaching, writing or editing or librarian jobs, please let us know. (Everything is fine, but we are thinking in the long term. There are some possible things here, too.)
5. I made
alethea_eastrid chocolate-raspberry pancakes this morning. I also made banana bread. There may be more cooking or baking this afternoon.
6. Edit: One of the local papers was sold out by 2 p.m. today. Apparently, everyone wanted the Christmas advertising stuffs.
7. Today's photos from the snowstorm. The rest are here.

( Two more )

( Two more )
1. I did cook up the bacon for the cookies, but I petered out and will save it.
I took the leftover swordfish, added frozen green beans and frozen corn and a bottle of Trader Joe's Yellow Curry. Made some quinoa or something like it from Trader Joe's. Rock star baby. Rock star.
2. So we were looking at possibly going to a Universalist Unitarian Christmas Eve service near
alethea_eastrid's grandmothers house in New Jersey.
This place says it's a UU:
Our Christmas Eve service will feature a UU interpretation of the Biblical birth story. We will be honoring new additions to our families (babies, children, partners). Let Rosemarie know, if you had someone new come into your family in 2008. We want to be sure to light a special candle, even if you are unable to make it. We will have a cookie and juice reception after the service. Please bring something to share, if you are able.
Cookies and juice.?????? This sounds like no UU church I know of. Where is the coffee??????
3. You gotta love teaching jobs that say "restraint training preferred." Yes, I have friends who are teachers who have it. It just says something to me about the position.
4. I am assuming I will have work tomorrow. I have a meeting with the director, who is my new boss until they hire someone to replace my boss, at 8:30 a.m. My request. It's "Hey, how are we going to do this?" I will get up early to dig out. I am hoping the roads will be OK.
5. That's OK, though. I work tomorrow and Wednesday, and I go back Jan. 5, 2009. I am excited.
6. Today, I am thankful for my family.
7. Another snow picture from today.
