A guest post from [livejournal.com profile] baronernst:

I'm hoping Liam picks this one up and asks it on his LJ because he has people reading his LJ from several kingdoms and I really don't have that many folks reading mine. In any event, the discussions regarding "Associates" (Proteges/Apprentices/Squires) led me to begin wondering something.

I'd responded to one of the discussions by talking about the tasks I'd set for my proteges without going into any detail about their tasks and quests. My proteges will know what I'm talking about. Then several people sent me notes asking me about the quests/tasks because their peers hadn't set any tasks for them. Then I'd recalled that a few people said they'd prefer that tasks be set for them to help them learn and grow. This seems quite obvious for an Apprentice but not nearly as obvious for a Squire and certainly rather obscure for a Protege.

Now to the question - Peers, what kind of tasks have you set for your associates? Associates, what kind of do you expect or would you like to have assigned to you?

1. This morning, I had one cat on the computer table and another on the table next to it. I was surrounded. They want to know when Mommy is coming home and whether they can eat "The Fat Hobbit" if she doesn't.

2. Reports from Gulf Wars involve chili. Her Majesty fighting in the Ladies of the Rose novice tournament (sponsored by the queen of Aethelmearc), and something about kamikazes from gas cans.

Fighter 1: "Dude, who did you draw?"

Fighter 2: "Some girl. She's over there."

Fighter 1: "You mean that one in the purple joupon with the regalia of the Queen of the East?"

Fighter 2: "Yeah, I wonder who she is."

Oh, I wish we had sent the pink fighting tunic.

3. This video, about the folks in Ponte Alto, is fabulous, maybe the best I have ever seen, and great for newcomers.

My only question is, Oh Slick One or his Faithful Bard, who are the Eaoldormearian knights and what are they doing in Virgina?

4. Speaking of YouTube, here's the match between Loudon and Shute at the end of VisionQuest.

5. My hairdresser loves me.

Hairdresser: "Regular men's cut?"

Liam: "Crew cut. No. 2 guard."

Hairdresser: "All the same? That's easy."

6. As usual, I am getting sucked into Match Madness, and my picks absolutely suck. ;)

7. And just what is Jean-Paul saying here?
